At my last job one of the employees just was always late coming in and left early. The rest of the crew was bent that they got paid for 40 hours and did not work but 35. The owner put in a time clock and we all went though the pain of clocking in and out. The employee that was late hated it and quit after they saw they were only paid for the hours worked.

I ended up getting overtime every week since I have come in early to open up and make the coffee and leave when the customer jobs are done. I only worked there for two years and was real happy to get my current job.

We have flex time. I still come in 30 minutes early only because I prefer it. If I have a three hour lunch it does not matter. I have been her on weekends and I will email customers even in the evenings and weekends. My cell (that I pay 100% of the cost) is synced to my work email. I use that email account for personal stuff as well.

When I got changed from hourly to salary my pay increased not because of my position, but they took what I had been averaging per month, no matter the hours I clocked, and added 10 hours a week at my current hourly rate. So can't ***** about any extra ours. We are also expected to keep our own track of our time, and if we put in more than 9 extra, take a comp day off. That's how I ended up 12K of vacation paid for to get me down to the use it or lose it limit.

Working from home I have the ultimate flex time. As long as the work gets done I am golden. Have worked on projects that I kept the computers in the office cranking 24 hours a day for 3 weeks. Just had to log in every few hours and add jobs to them. Was recognized and got a certificate for flexibility. Probably also why the let me stay working from home.

I thought about it, but went the airboat route instead because I was using a single nitro engine. Adding another nitro engine would have made things pretty heavy.

That little hovercraft in the video is pretty friggin cool!

There's an HPI 5b on Craigslist here that I just wrote about. Those things look insane.

When do you go for your boat ride?

RKDinOKC 03-03-2016 01:03 PM

Yeah, that sounds a lot like flying...Hours of tedious boredom punctuated by moments of extreme terror.

Jim Richards 03-03-2016 01:07 PM

Boat ride? Let's go!

Ok, today I found out that my attack schnauzer is a phony, a fraud, a poseur. I just took her for a walk and as we passed a small pond, there was a pair of mallards along the water's edge. Kiera quickly charged towards the ducks before they had a chance to fly away. Instead of going "for the kill," she pulled up at the last second and watched them fly away. In Texas parlance, she's all hat, no cattle! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...leys/happy.gif

GH85Carrera 03-03-2016 01:12 PM

I heard the expression as "Big hat, no cattle" They talk big but really have nothing to back up the swagger.

Thanks for straightening me out, Glen. SmileWavy

OK, two quick questions. My wife finally got all her dad's spoons back. Long story that won't be told here.

Question one. Ruger Single Six New Model, 1973 S/N. Were these supposed to come with .22LR and .22MWR cylinders? Not that I care a whole lot since what would you use WMR for?

Question two. S&W N frame in .45 Long Colt with the 8 3/8 inch barrel. As you know my daughter likes to shoot her rifles but absolutely loves shooting hand spoons. Would I be better to get cowboy rounds for her to try or get some .45 Schoffield? She shoots the .357 so she probably could shoot the full Long Colt but I think she would tire of the recoil quickly.

Very true. Guy had a NSX he loved driving but kept the miles off etc. it never even saw drop of rain. When he sold it much later with under 3000 miles he was upset with himself because the low miles only made an $800 difference in price.

I would never make a good owner of a super low mileage collector car. I've driven everything I've ever owned including the rare 94 GTS. I personally have put 30K on it. Have put less miles on it than I usually do both because of the foot thing and because I work from home. There is the also been in the shop for a year thing too. However since it had over 20k when I got it the mileage is not really going to effect the price until it gets over 100K.

When my I moved here my next door neighbor had a new Honda Accord. About once ever two months she would drive from here to Dallas (all highway) to visit her Mom. Otherwise she just did normal around town stuff. She always rented a car to drive to Dallas. Not to keep the miles off, but because she thought it would cause unnecessary repairs. I told her several times that the highway miles on a car like that would actually keep it running better and because it was all highway miles were almost negative miles. It wasn't until the last new car she got as she started NOT renting a car for the trip. It was because she had it serviced at the dealer and when it had some tuning problems they told her it needed some highway driving done.

They also told her she needed her ducting moved to the attic instead of under the slap because there was gravel in the bottom of the Plenum. They told her it was getting water in it and had rusted out the plenum. My ducts are dry as a bone and the plenum has gravel in the bottom. ALL the houses in the neighborhood have a gravel bottomed plenum!

God must take care of those kind of people as she inherited a LOT of money when her Dad passed to pay for the cost of gullibility.

The only real problem I've had is she teaches first graders. She came over and took the HUGE toad that sat on my porch eating bugs that came to the porch light. Without even asking she took it to show the kids in her class and one of her kids killed it. He was almost a foot around, huge! It really did take car of a lot of bugs. I could toss a pebble in front of him and he would suck it up with his tongue, bat his eyes, then spit it out. Never did name him though.

One evening soon after she was sitting in her porch swing and went to say hi. As it got dusk she said she was going in because of the bugs, that when I told her I used to have a huge toad that ate mine. That's when she told me she killed my toad.

At our other house our garage had a singe light over the middle that we kept on at night. Every summer night there would be these two big toads one sitting in each corner of the garage door. But they never got nearly as big as the toad that sat under my porch light here. Haven't seen any other toads take it's place either.

Jim Richards 03-03-2016 05:01 PM

We used to have lots of toads, frogs and salamanders where I grew up. Never saw a toad get as big as the one you had. I wonder what their natural predators are.

RKDinOKC 03-03-2016 05:18 PM

Every spring my last golden would did holes over a foot deep in flower beds, next to the house, and next to trees. There would be a toad in the bottom where she stopped digging. She was taught to do this by the Dalmatian next door.

They say owls, snakes, racoons, and skunks. Have an owl that roosts in the cottonwood in my back yard. Have also had to treat my last golden twice for getting sprayed by a skunk. Haven't seen any racoons, and the snakes around here are just little grass snakes. Have seen a neighborhood cat kill a rabbit.

There is a lot of plants in the flower bed next to the front porch it would be easy for a large toad to hide in. Also have a little toad statue on the other end of my porch that is the size of a regular toad. My porch is very long.

HHI944 03-03-2016 05:30 PM

My dog has killed more squirrels than I can count, a possum, a black racer and a seagull. She's a cold blooded killer.

RKDinOKC 03-03-2016 06:19 PM

Have found parts of lizards and small snakes, but no other evidence yet. Assume since my last golden brought me critters this one will. Right now Pepper love running around the yard carrying sticks. The bigger the better. Not sure what she is training herself for.

Am I missing something?

We have have users using Microsoft Office. About half, 250 out of 500 email users. As of right now everyone has a boxed license. Meaning continued use of Office apps is free. Since we are moving our exchange hosting the IT Director is putting EVERYONE, all 500 users on Office 365. For a company our size that is $18/month per user MORE or $108,000 per year. And we just had a meeting today about how we are really needing to save more money this year or there will be more layoffs.

Another Early Good Morning...Ha

ckelly78z 03-04-2016 02:59 AM

Woke up to 3" of snow everywhere....the kind that sticks to all the tree branches, and makes it a beautiful Norman Rockwell type scene. It didn't seem to slow down the idiots on the commute this morning......two different cars out there running 70 MPH, passing everyone in a 55 zone 2 lane busy road.

What, exactly does Stijn mean, is it an acronym ?
