We hope that our son and DIL don't get carried away with the free babysitting idea when they start popping out kiddies. When we want to do things for ourselves, we're doing them.

Jim you just have to lay down ground rules with them. Thuy's mom didn't do that with her younger sister, and now is essentially free day care. Thuy's sis doesn't even bring over food or snacks for her kids. Her mom won't tell her no because she knows if she does she won't get to see the kids at all. Isn't family great?

Porsche-poor 05-26-2016 07:04 AM

morning all. great Buddy Guy show last night. But now I'm sleepy.

flipper35 05-26-2016 09:15 AM

Funny, my mom complains if she doesn't get to see the kids 3-4 times per week.

Trying to decide whether to go to Yellowstone, Lake Huron, or the Smithsonian for vacation this year. We have gone to Lake Michigan, Lake Erie, Lake Superior and Niagara Falls so almost Lake Ontario. We have been to several museums as well but haven't been to DC with the kids.

I have been to Yellowstone and the Smithsonian so I don't have a preference. We all like the outdoors so Huron or Yellowstone appeals there. Not sure about DC in late summer. Plus, Jim moved away from there.

yellowstone

Porsche-poor 05-26-2016 09:18 AM

that is if we are voting. if not then Yellowstone.

flipper35 05-26-2016 09:22 AM

I think Yellowstone is pretty high up because my wife has been shopping travel trailers pretty hard and only looks at the ones that aren't bear snack bags.

Porsche-poor 05-26-2016 09:29 AM

good plan on her part. There is a zoo up here that every spring they put together a camp site inside the grizzly bear enclosure complete with tents, coolers and food. I would not want to be sleeping in the tent.......

:p

Late summer in DC is hot and humid. Lots of skeeters, too. Yellowstone sounds good to me. :)

Jim Richards 05-26-2016 09:30 AM

Sid, your advice lines up with my thinking, too. :)

Shouldn't be too bad if the coolers are stocked well.

Porsche-poor 05-26-2016 09:35 AM

From Late June till July 3 I'll be far far away from bears. Unless we happen upon a zoo.

flipper35 05-26-2016 09:40 AM

The last one we saw thought he was Batman!

Porsche-poor 05-26-2016 09:43 AM

Not to active. You can take him!

flipper35 05-26-2016 09:48 AM

He wasn't all that big either, but no one takes on the Batman, er, bear.

I was too slow on the pic but the bear had just licked where Jacob had his face up against the glass. Just like a dog would do.

cute. needs a little salt.

flipper35 05-26-2016 10:36 AM

I imagine the bear was thinking needs a little less glass.

I was surprise how small they are. Still wouldn't mess with one without a taser, tranq darts, flash bangs...

Porsche-poor 05-26-2016 10:40 AM

black bears are small. Brown bears or grizzly bears, Kodiak or polar bears are bigger.

RKDinOKC 05-26-2016 11:01 AM

Rather stay in a tent than a cooler. Coolers just seem too small to be comfortable.

Even better would be a hotel room overlooking the bear enclosure.

There's an idea to raise more money to take care of the aminals. A zoo with a hotel with rooms overlooking the aminal exhibits and enclosures. Safari Suites!

GH85Carrera 05-26-2016 11:10 AM

There is a local restaurant with a hunting lodge theme. They have a huge stuffed Grizzly at the front entrance. That sucker is just something even Chuck Norris can't whip without a big gun.
