The Panamara is just crazy money. And it is a HUGE car. Just huge.

I guess if I had near unlimited funds and a large family and made a lot of trips together and a extra big garage it would make sense. I do have a big garage but that is not a reason to buy that monster.

Cars don't ever die. Just keep em maintained and fixed. My daily driver is 31 years old and has 352,000 miles and going great. I have for sure spent money keeping it up, but not even remotely the money a new car costs. Until they are totaled in an accident, they can live forever. Don't have wrecks and keep driving it.

I keep it maintained. So far its has one transmission issue and lots of electrical problems

What was it some Ford?

My factory delivered 305 went 300,000 miles and was replaced only because it was smoking a lot. Rebuilding it would cost more than the $1,700 I paid for a brand new GM crate engine 350 with a 24,000 mile warranty.

I have worn out a couple of transmissions but getting that fixed is cheaper than a few car payments.

Most engines don't grenade if they are never over reved or overheated. My 305 never one had the heads off until I took the engine out of the car.

It is actually cheaper to replace that engine than buy another car.

Engines can grenade for all sorts of reasons.
Have heard of a LOT of cars that were well maintained and weren't over revved losing cams after ZDDP was removed from engine oils.
My 928GTS lost the cam and needed a valve job at 60,000 miles because of a defective part.
The engine on my 2 1/2 year old BoxterS lost crank bearings and Porsche replaced it. Being a new car it was well maintained at the dealer and Porsche checked the black box to make sure it had not been over revved or abused before they replaced it as well.

New car features are attractive though. Glad my vehicles are new enough they have crumple zone technology in case of something more serious than a fender bender.

I remember in the 70's seeing a Porsche 911 sitting at the dealership. It was only about 5 ft long. It had been rear ended at high speed and crushed against the car in front of it. Instead of crushing the passenger compartment is moved up and tilted forward so basically everything was crushed except for the passenger compartment. You could still get in and out of the car. The driver and passenger were not even scratched. Made a big impression on me though.

The IT Director just sent me an email to stop implementing Mobile Device Management, MDM.
He doesn't think we need to mess with it because all the company mobile phones are stipend. The company pays monthly for employees that use their phone for business but the employees own their phone. Said we could just turn off active sync.

Had to explain that now that the company does not own the phones we need to use MDM more than before. Before when an employee left the company they turned in their phone. If the did not turn it in we bricked it. Now when they leave the company they also carry off all the emails and documents on their phones.

Plus enrolling them in MDM gives us the opportunity to easily produce a list of who has a phone or tablet accessing the company email/files.

Why is this guy in charge of IT?

My wife went through that. She had her personal cell phone that I pay for. She refused to give out the number or email address to the university. She gave it to her friends there that made personal calls to each other.

The legal team said flat out, if you do university business on a cell phone it can be subpoenaed and used in court. Even if if is your personal property the subpoena can take your phone to recover any university business.

When I started doing all the remote monitoring and management they gave me a laptop to do it on. Said it was more secure...I call BS. I changed my password for all my work stuff. It did NOT change the password to my login on the laptop. The laptop is not even a member of the AD Domain.

Dinner was delicious.

It's amazing what you can do with a good smoker grill and a toaster oven.
Grilled the burger with charcoal smoke.
Used the toaster oven to heat up some frozen steak fries and a brown and serve yeast roll.
Used the roll for a hamburger bun, much better than packaged buns.

My toaster oven has a timer that starts when it has reached the set temp.
Found stuff comes out great if I put it in before I start the oven preheating and then it only takes 7 minutes to cook things that call for 20 minutes in their instructions. Only takes about 3 minutes for the toaster oven to reach 450°F. Amazingly the rolls and fries take the same cooking time. The only gotcha is the yeast rolls have to sit covered at room temp for 6 hours to thaw and rise before cooking.

Next time will have to chop some jalapeno or serano peppers and onion and mix up in the burger meat before grillin.

I put salad on my burgers. Just no pickles.

One of the reasons I like using brown and serve rolls besides the fresh out of the oven goodness is they are the same size as a typical slice of tomato or onion for a lot less messy burger experience.

Mixing the peppers and onions in the burger before cooking makes it taste different.
Mushrooms and Swiss cheese is also pretty good.
Mushrooms, peppers, onions, and cheese all make good burger mixers.
