So Glen, you are taking her to Costco instead of Sam's?

Porsche-poor 08-31-2017 07:17 AM

not if he wants to use the Macan ever again.

flipper35 08-31-2017 07:19 AM

And I bet a mattress fits in the bed of the EC.

Porsche-poor 08-31-2017 07:48 AM

probably but I'm sure he would like to avoid that.

flipper35 08-31-2017 07:58 AM

Probably. A good place to eat is probably the way to go.

Mertnin...That was fun, NOT.

Found a charge from my debit card I didn't make.
It was from some ebook service in Canada.
$45 bucks a month to have access to a whole bunch of eBooks.

Why would I want to do that since I know from Glen, Mrs Carrera downloads eBooks from the local Library?

Called them.

The first sign of hanky panky, they looked my account up by my credit card NOT my email!

Then their policy is that I had 7 days to cancel and get a refund. It did not show up on my account until 7 days after they have record of me opening the account. How convenient.

Asked her if they had record of the ebooks I had downloaded and read. She said sure. Then said I hadn't downloaded any. Told her that's because I did not open an account. AND if I did not get a refund for all of the money I would file a Credit Card Fraud complaint as soon as I got off the phone. Within seconds I got an email stating my subscription was canceled and that I would get a full refund. By the time I got off the phone and logged into my bank account the reverse charge had gone thru.

Then I called and reported the fraud charge to my card and killed the card.
The bummer is I have change the card number on the bills I use that card on.

Then drove the 2 miles to he Credit Union Branch and got a new debit card.
Also talked to one of the officers about what my options were, if I should get a credit card or if I could get a second debit card or what.

She said the only advantage of a credit card was that it would raise my credit rating but limit the amount I could borrow because it was a debit for the limit on the card. The disadvantage was the interest if I was not paid in full every month.

She recommended I just open another account with the Credit Union and use that account for internet and incidental debit card charges and only transfer money to that account that I was going to spend. That way if someone tried to fraud that card and drain my bank it would only effect the money I had put in that account.

She also stated that the VISA debit cards the credit union uses has the same fraud protection as the VISA credit cards. And that if that ebook company hadn't reversed the charges VISA would have.

I now have two separate checking accounts with the credit union each with their own debit card. One for bills, and one for expenses. And if something happens to my daily use card I won't have to mess with updating the card number on my bills.

Know Glen likes Pearl's, a nice sea food cajun place. Don't know about Mrs. Carrera.

Porsche-poor 08-31-2017 08:29 AM

I have one credit card for use online and vacations. I know right away if something is not right.

RKDinOKC 08-31-2017 10:32 AM

Now I have a credit card that I will use for online, vacations, AND everyday spending.
It will be declined if I don't transfer the money to the account before I spend it.

A little sensitive since I got charged for that ebook thing.

Figure I can just put a budgeted amount in the account. Add to it if needed.
Can transfer to the account easily by phone if needed.

Have never had to worry about it before.

flipper35 08-31-2017 10:47 AM

Is it real?

News from The Associated Press

Atlanta police spokeswoman Stephanie Brown says the mother took the gun from the boy and pulled the trigger "to see if it was real." A single shot was fired.

Porsche-poor 08-31-2017 10:49 AM

some people.................

RKDinOKC 08-31-2017 11:21 AM

Oh shoot...

GH85Carrera 08-31-2017 12:57 PM

Stijn!!

Mrs Carrera like Pearl's as well. We eat there every anniversary and on other special occasions. We had our first date ever at Pearl's.

She decided that for the honor of using her vehicle we should just go to lunch today. Normally I eat a sandwich at home that is cheap. So today we went to a place called the Shack that is Cajun food. Only 42 bucks for lunch! We both have leftovers so just over $10.5 per meal makes it sound better to me. Still WAY WAY more than a $3.03 hot dogs total cost at Sam's. We don't have Costco around here.

Porsche-poor 08-31-2017 01:05 PM

She just might let you use it again.

RKDinOKC 08-31-2017 02:05 PM

Brother thinks I should sell the 928 as soon as it gets out of the shop.

GH85Carrera 08-31-2017 03:01 PM

Golly I am having fun!

I may set my hair on fire to have more fun
. Well maybe not.

I got the new giant CPU cooler installed which only required my drill press and bench grinder to accomplish. I rebooted and the system said it had a failure on a hard drive. Sure enough, it has the click of death, and that drive is DOA. It is a mirrored boot drive so the other drive is supposed to take over and boot. Windows spent a long time and finally said the boot record is corrupt. WFT. I have my data right there that I can see if I put the drive in my other computer as a data drive. So now I will buy two 2 - 2TB drives and rebuild my system . If I have to replace, might as well upgrade.

Of course I built my system with Win 7 pro and was upgraded for free to Win 10. Now the free upgrade is NLA.

So ring around the Rosie and jump through hoops just to get back to where I was. So all day to change a CPU cooler. Sounds about right.

RKDinOKC 09-01-2017 03:10 AM

FRiDAY!!!!

as you were.

GH85Carrera 09-01-2017 05:34 AM

TGIF i guess.

After fighting with Win 10 all this time I decided to just do a clean install on my new mirrored 2TB drives. I have the hard drive from before so 100% of my data is safe. My old system was an upgrade from Win 7 Pro. Of course I never had a Win 10 install source. It is interesting I can download a file and set it up on on a thumbdrive to do a clean install of Win 10. Evidently Microsoft has a bunch of "activation servers" that have a record of my CPU and computer configuration. It will check that data somehow and activate my Win 10 win to registration key since I was a legit user of it before.

So clean install and re-install the programs I need. That will be a pain but I will have a cleaner system. I have installed and uninstalled many programs over the last 3 years.

Porsche-poor 09-01-2017 06:08 AM

Morning all. I hope its Friday and not just a false alarm.
