Morning all. here today and off tomorrow. All part of the use it or lose it vacation wise so I took a day to deal with a recall on the wifes car.

true but dropping the car off will only take 30 min then I plan to do something fun.

I was trying to explain to the bosses wife about a project my partner will fly in Kansas today. I told her that first he shoots the RGB nadir orthos and after the sun sets they will shoot the infrared in the darkness. The client we are shooting to for then uses the the RGB to align the infrared to position and can show his client the locations of heat loss, or moisture from leaks.

Then she made me climb a ladder in the hall to remove all the glass domes over the light bulbs so she can clean the fixtures and she "let" me replace all the bulbs with new LED bulbs. She is going through the house and wants to replace all the bulbs with LED, dust every fixture, and then she is going through every closet and dresser drawer to get rid of old crap, and I get to move all the furniture out so she can dust the back of it, and the baseboards behind the furniture. Golly it is fun.

I think the boss called. The plane needs to be looked at.

Yea, that worked last Friday morning when I went flying on a project. And I am processing a flight my partner flew yesterday. I am tying this on one of my old backup computers. The laptop has some updates. Having three computers is handy sometimes. The main system is hogged up processing on the projects. The CPU stays at 90 to 100% use, the Video card is running hard, and the SSD hard drive bangs away.

Nah, I was in El Centro. When you choose tires I have two pieces of advice. Don't run them at high speeds and don't keep them long if you do. I do love the rims though!!! My bad BFG from the Cobra.

You have some more choices with 16" rims. I had to go with MT tires in the 15" diameter to get the correct widths in a decent tire. Or I could buy Avons at $500 per tire.

One day I might have to go to 17" in that style or the Halibrand (I like ours better than the Halibrands) to get decent tires. Nitto makes the correct widths in a really sticky 17".

Those BFG tires are what I run on the El Camino. It just cost me 217 bucks to get ONE of them replaced due to a screw too close to the shoulder. Those tires have really gone up in price. My next set will likely be a different brand, or I may have to get some 16 inch rims. I hate that look on my car. I like the 14s it came with, but no tires worth a flip are available. I ain't gonna run trailer tires on a car.

Just think how easy it will be to drift every corner whether you want to or not on the 14".

I don't hold a grudge on those tires. They were fine even if there wsn't a lot of grip. The major problem was running them up to 150mph a couple times and not replacing them in a timely fashion afterwards. Luckily the tire started coming apart 1/2 mile from home at normal speeds and I could slow down and limp it home. The vibration when it started though...

Not sure what size you need, but Coker has some in 14" that are still reasonable.

Switched my electric billing over to Smart Hours where summer rates go to half, then go up during afternoon based on outside temps. The plan itself saves me about $400/summer. They also gave me a free energy audit, replaced all my bulbs with LED, and two power strips for signing up.

They gotta be charging too much if they can give all that away to switch to a plan that I spend less during the summer.

Don't know what kind of Apartment Bob has in Tulsa, but he spends more than I do on electricity and I have a 1750 sqft home built in 1981 (cheaply).
He sent me a link to some scam thing that claims to save 80% on your electric bill by switching my home to run off batteries.

Friend told me I need to get new energy efficient windows. Says it will save me 50% off my heating an cooling.
The quote was $7000 for all my windows and storm doors. At an average of $120/mo for gas and electric on average spending $7000 to save $60/mo would take 10 years to pay for itself.

They are only speed rated to 112 MPH max, so you were a bit over the rating. My El Camino weighs a LOT more than your Cobra, and it has plenty of traction. They have pretty decent performance for my application. Wet driving was a major reason to buy them. Since your car has no roof, I suspect wet traction is not a concern for you.

I might be able to hit 120 in the Elky if I was being chased by someone with a gun. It would be a scary ride for sure. I don't think I have ever hit 90 in the Elky. It just does not like going much faster than 75.

Speed rating is why I buy high performance all season tires for both the GTS and Turbo.
In today's political climate you never know when it might be beneficial to "Run Away."
Also why no stickers claiming any sort of affiliation or comments. Might get it keyed or even an unexploding bomb.

When I had the X3 it had the sports package. Part of that package was the speed limiter of 120 was removed. It came with special tires. You were to run one pressure for under 100mph and 4psi higher for over 100mph. There was only ONE tire to fit it. Funny thing the cheapest place to get them was the BMW dealer and they were pretty cheap at $150/tire. They did only last around 13K miles though. There was even a sticker on the window warning tires would NOT last over 20K.

When I put the 22in rims on the CayenneS there was basically only one tire that fit with the proper load rating. Moved those rims to the turbo and got new tires this summer. There are now 10 different tires for 22in rims with the correct diameters to plus size the stock rims and have the proper speed and load rating.

Had a tire blow out while cruising down the highway in the Range Rover. It was interesting that I could only tell by the sound. The handling didn't change at all.

Yup, but given that the speed rating is for a regular load for x amount of time I didn't worry much. But as they age they don't have the same integrity.

The BFG were terrible in the wet on that car. The Goodyears were awesome in the wet, but they were a race tire so that would be expected. The Mickey Thompson are actually pretty good in the wet.

The BFG are orders of magnitude better in the rain than some of the "Dayton" brand of tires I ran for a while. They were a local company owned by Firestone, that made tires. They were also a customer of the company I worked for. I personally made money from them so I felt it would be nice to use their product. A set of 4 was just over 240 bucks, mounted, balanced, and tax, out the door price. They even had a mileage warranty. That really messed with the mind of one of the tire guys when I came in with a car with just 200,085 miles to get new tires. The odometer only showed 85 miles and I told him it was 200,085 but in the end he wrote it up as 20,085 so I could wear out those tires in 25,000 miles, and the mileage warranty was showing I drove only 5,000 miles.

The Dayton's were fine in dry weather. A bit scary in the wet, and horrible in snow or ice. Just terrible. I was happy to go to a different tire brand. I would have changed tires even if I owned the company.

I bet I have had 3 or 4 set of the BFG tires on the Elky. Lots of other brands as well.
