Why do we need gold if robots do all the work? Shouldn't everything be free?

I am just trying to envision the world where some sort of gold is just handed out to everyone. The price of gold world wide will plummet. The bars of gold will be worth about the same as a brick. It will take a bar of gold to buy lunch. The restaurant will need a forklift and a massive truck to take the gold to the bank, and the bank will need giant warehouses to store the gold. If they just had out gold as people ask for it, can I get more than one bar at a time?

Will I get my own robot to mow my yard and clean my house. Then my house-cleaner lady is out of work, but if she has free gold so what. Man it is gonna take a lot of robots.

Just think, we will get to have roads paved with gold. Houses made with gold bricks. They will need some heavy duty foundations to support the gold walls, but hey money is free. I bet the gold streets will be pretty slippery. People will slip and fall, but no point suing. All the gold is free anyway. Just had the hospital a few bars of gold an off ya go.

How about I hold onto the gold for everyone for safe keeping.

Video claims gold is plentiful in the Universe.

Think these conspiracy theorists need to work on their story some more.

Just too many holes in all these theories.

Good Morning all. Today is my anniversary, 27 years.

It is also the date Einstein was born, and that Stephen Hawking died. Pi day, 3.14

Happy Anniversary.

It is also National Steak and BJ day! Don't know if that had anything to do with Hawkings passing.

I just had the fun of an airport run. A round trip to Will Rogers World airport. My business partner is off to another project in another state. With my fantastic skillful planning, we timed the traffic perfectly. No major slow downs on the way. Just typical heavy traffic in the bottleneck areas. With favorable traffic it is a one hour round trip at best.

On the way back home I wanted to make a fruit run at a local store around the corner from my house. It was easier to approach it from _135 and Memorial than my usual route home. Anyway for at least two miles the traffic on the southbound lanes of I-35 were a total cluster fudge. Traffic was moving slowly or not at all on that side. We had gone through that exact area just an hour before and it was fine. My business partner got to the airport with lost of time to get through security, and get to the gate.

Have done pick-ups and drop-offs but haven't flown commercially myself for over a decade.

When I went to pick up the 928 in Dallas, instead of flying I took the train. From drop-off to pick-up was surprised it actually took about the same amount of time as flying. No security stuff and the terminals are much smaller. In Dallas the arrival gates are almost a mile from the pick-up area. And the train was much cheaper.

We fly out of Dubuque most of the time. It is easy to get to and the people are very nice there. More small town advantages.

Anyone know much about being a landlord? Wife is thinking of picking up some rental properties.

I hate airline travel. But if one is going 1,500 or even more miles, there really is no other affordable alternative. When we flew one of our leased Cessna 172s up to one project in Yankee land, it was an all day cross country, and cost more in fuel alone than a round trip airline flight.

Of course the real way to travel is in a jet like my business partner co-pilots. It cruises along at almost 500 MPH. He said the owner just tells them when he wants to go, and walks onboard and has a drink and zero TSA security to bother with. The bad news is the cost is rather high. Very.

BTDT. The biggest issue is finding a really good tenant. And you need to be handy at fixing things yourself. I rented my old house for several years. That was a pain in the butt experience for me, that I don't want again. Get a rental property that is easy to get to, at almost any time, and be ready to fix crap that is no major problem, but it will always take a trip to the big box store, and most of a day of your time.

I hated it, and was happy to sell the place and be done with it.

My Uncle was a Baptist minister. He invested in rental property as long as I've been alive. His big thing was to rent section 8 housing. The houses had to meet a criteria to be rented to section 8. But it was guaranteed rent from the State, and the state paid to fix stuff, and to put the house back into original condition between renters. He had a relative handyman that the paid to do all the work whom also made a good living.

He invested everything from the reality back into it (buying and and lived off his preachers income. At one point he moved to a church in a different small town. He developed and built the house/neighborhood he moved into. Then built up the reality company in that town selling off his homes in the other.

When he passed he left his 3 kids multi-millionaires in the reality company. They got huge amounts of cash very quickly just from not re-investing like their Dad did. One took over the management and discovered she was the richest person in the small town she lives in, Wagoneer, OK.

I think I would just have to use a property management service and pay them to deal with all the crap.
