I got a refund because my accountant found things like the allowed depreciation on the Cessna. I estimated tax payments every quarter or the goofy periods of months the IRS calls quarters.

The federal refund was 1/2 used to pay the this quarter's taxes, and 1/2 refunded right to my checking account. The state sent me a *&$^@$% debit card. So now I use that until it is used up.

The new fence is up. Done.

I asked if they had a few extra pickets and they gave me three of them. If I need more I know I can go to the same lumber yard that built the panels and get more. They are all cedar, even the cross bars studs. The last fence lasted about 18 to 20 years best I can remember. I doubt I will be around to have to replace it again. I pulled the nails from the pickets, and have them in my storage building. They even left me a dozen of the outdoor rated screws. I have plenty of outdoor screws, now a few more. These are star drive or torx head. 1 & 5/8 inch long.

The contractor said he does paperwork on Mondays and will mail me a bill.

Watching the fence guys inspired me to tackle a problem we have ignored for years. The stove top vent hood. One bulb was burned out, and I had ignored it because I had to remove three screws in awkward positions to get to the bulbs. So first comes off the the two grease filters, then the center cover that has the three screws in place.

Like most things taking it apart is way easier than reassembly. The fan motor was full of debris from three roofing jobs. We had quit using it because it made horrible noises. All that crap is out, and I even blew it out with compressed air.

As I was taking the motor out I saw this tag.

Getting things back together was a major pain. The folks that put in the new backsplash ran it up 1/2 inch higher than it was needed. It makes getting the panel back in place a real challenge as it is in the way. It takes some force to push and pull way harder than should ever be necessary.

It is all back together. Lots cleaner, and with two working LED bulbs.

It is a 135 feet of fence along my back yard. My neighbors are old (like me) but they are just not able to help do the work and I am unwilling to try it by myself. So we are hiring a contractor to do it. It will provide him and his crew some money.

I have already figured out when I get my federal money I plan to spend it at restaurants with large tips on food orders.
It seems like a lifetime ago I used to do that - when the missus's dad was a fencing contractor.

The neighborhood behind my house is a gated community. They put a stockade fence 2ft on their side of the property line. "So they own and take care of it." Had somehone remove my old east side for the fence panels. Brother across the street behind me had them put in a gate with a concrete step on their side. They have replaced all the sections because there were knots that fell out and they were peek holes. There are three houses in that neighborhood that share my stockade. Two of those housed belonged to two stock holders now just one and the other house is vacant. The gate is one the property line of those two houses.

To the North the guy works as a home depot an replaced that run and refused financial help.

To the East the ladies mom died and left her a bunch of money. She relandscaped and paid for the fence and wouldn't accept my $$ help.

The only thing left is the south side. And we have agreed to each go half. Neither of us go into the side yards that fenced is in so neither of us has called anyone yet. The neighbor leaves his gate open just enough to pass thru and he rarely if ever mows his back yard. Kind looks like he stores a bunch of stuff in his side and back yards. Kinda matches his garage that he leaves the door ajar on. When it is open inside his garage is full to the point it looks like a hoarder's garage.

When we moved in we had the builder grade cheapest fence possible with wooden posts. I spent a lot of time fixing those. The posts would break right at the surface from rot. It was a real task to get them out. I made up a rig with the largest lag screw-bolt (14 inches long or so) that I would drive into the remaining wood using my impact gun. I had it go through a giant washer I made from an old metal edger blade, and the chain link when through that. I rigged up a lever action with two posts and the old post came up with lots of sweat.

My neighbor from two doors down (OK, next to next door neighbor?) came over and saw me fighting with the rig and helped. He had ulterior motives. He had several posts he wanted pulled out. So we finished up my few broken posts, and did several of his after a wind storm many years ago.

I had heard of the metal posts and replaced those wooden posts with those. I would only replace a panel that blew down. We get straight line winds of 50 to 60 MPH and the wind load on those fences is enormous. Often in the area I would see long stretches of other peoples fences blown over. With a buddy, it was not horrible to replace a panel. I had to borrow a friends trailer, get the new panels and struggle to get them up and screwed into place. Then take the trailer back and cut up the old fence panel to go in the trash can.

I am just glad it is all done.

Got some but it says not to eat it. My lysol kitchen cleaner says it has some bleach in it, but doesn't say not to eat it.

Maybe I should soak stuff like that in liquor before eating.

Having fun now boss.

Yesterday it was 89 degrees. Today is 69 a bit after noon. Much nicer temp. So I decided to mow again. It is the first time it has been dry enough to use the string trimmer. It has been a really wet spring.
So the yard is edged and trimmed and mowed, and the debris blown into the grass. I had to fire up all 4 pieces of equipment. Golly it was fun.

It’s been raining here for a few days, and will continue for a few more days. My lawn continues to grow while I’m waiting for a chance to mow it. I may need to invest in a machete.

Morning/afternoon all. Had a long day yesterday of CAD. The commute still remains less than 5 min.

At this rate I will not be getting a check from the feds.

The storm you guys are having is supposed to mosey its way to us soon and bring rain and maybe freaking snow. It will all depend on timing on when some front comes down from the dang Canadians, and mixes with the dang California weather.

For years the local Braum's has had a drive through. It was for the fast food menu only. If you wanted a gallon of milk or a 1/2 gallon of ice cream or fresh fruit or veggies you had to come in. Evidently now they will let the drive through sell the "fresh market" stuff. At least according to the sign out front. I have not tried it as yet.

eeeewww, they will touch your fresh market stuff.
I used to get gallons of milk thru the drive thru. Then they stopped.

How long do you quarantine the stuff?
Do you disinfect or wash the stuff as you bring it into your home?
Do you clean your car?
Do you change clothes and wash when you get home?

One of the reasons I like getting groceries and sundaries delivered to my front porch is I can clean stuff as I bring it in. And I don't have to clean my car. Especially since the docs said I was virus free at the hospital just this last Monday.
