Well, Monday we take delivery of a new (to us anyway) people hauler. Bought it in person at a dealer 4 hours away but saved money on it and I didn't want to buy sight unseen. Has the tri-pane windowed roof. Going to be buying stock in Rain-X I think as it is practically the entire roof is glass. Probably want a long handled squeegee too. I wonder if I can roll it back and stand up through it to clean it.

The Cayennes with that giant sun roof are known for leaking. Hope yours don't.

Hmmm, got a stimulus debit card with $1200 on it. Didn't think I qualified.
Still nothing from unemployment. Rolled my 401K into an IRA and starting disbursements. 401K has come back up to only down 12% from before virus. 401K costs $35 for every withdrawal/disbursement, IRA does not charge to make withdrawals/disbursements. And can roll the money into IRA without penality since over 59-1/2.

$1200, that's better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick.

I delivered my first software contract yesterday. It dragged on for a few weeks extra thanks to the customer and his scope creep - fine with me, and he was happy to pay.
![]() He reckons he'll get me back soon to design the final hardware for it.

Wait, you do the software and hardware both? Do you have different hats so the software side can blame the hardware department and then the hardware folks just say reboot, it is a software glitch?
We are working really close now with the people that make the camera system we use. They make different camera pods for different purposes. My business partner now has a really neat soldering station and even a de-soldering station. He is doing some diagnosis of camera pods that are in development. He can take a component out and often that means removing it from a soldered position and updating it. Then he straps the camera on our airplane and does a test flight. It is frustrating how often a camera system tests out just fine on the bench, and then just quits in the real world of a flight. He finds the flaw, and flies again until the camera system works like designed.

Morning all. I found out yesterday that I will probably be working from home till January. The lease on the current office is up at the end of June and the new office space will not be ready or possibly even post covid-19 approved. AKA packed in to tight for the new social distancing rules.

It was about that for me as well. What I do miss is the desk layout and not the dining room table.

Yea, I do miss the old office and the large work areas and having my own printer to make prints, test prints and corrections to make a perfect print. The access to some equipment and such.

I also miss that. I have a stack to scan but not sure when that's going to happen.

Scanners. Oh man, gotta find drivers for my Epson backlit 35mm slide scanner so can use it on my current Mac system. System no longer supports 32bit software. Also the Kodak photoshop plug-in that did wonders fixing colors on slides is only available in 32bit.

That plug in is available in the new Photoshop. I remember you mentioned the name once before. I looked it up, and it is still made. I did not buy it as I don't have many old beat up red slide scans.
The scanner we had at work was 75 grand and really amazing. It is one bit of technology I wish I had access to. ![]() This is a real scan with the frame of film is not some Photoshop frame. Notice how there is zero blooming or glow through the sprocket holes. Every other scanner I used up to $35,000 scanners had some blooming of the highlights. And that scanner did not interpolate or "res it up" it could do a native scan at over 4,000 PPI.

If the roof leaks before the van has 150k miles on it they will repair it for free. While it is nice to have all these electronic gizmos, I don't entirely trust them. The Cobra is easy to fix, the Durango isn't much harder. The door sensors and motors and chains do worry me after 10-15 years. The roof. Too bad the guy doesn't know how to run it very well. Wife asked what hail would do to it.

More gizmos more potential problems.
My Elky has manual window winders, and no power locks or ABS. It does have power steering and power brakes. I have had to replace the power steering pump and the steering rack from wear. Good ol inexpensive GM parts. The power brake master cylinder is the original one.

Yup. The Cobra don't even got no winders. I take that back. They are somewhere in the garage. It don't got no winders installed!

Yep, Kodak still has the plug-in, but it is not available to run in 64 bit mode.
Have to force photoshop to run in 32bit. Newer MacOS don't play that no more. Will try again to see if Kodak upgraded it. Brother wants me to scan a LOAD of 35mm slides, 2500 of them. And is willing to pay me the going rate, $0.32 per slide, $800 and every little bit helps.
