Get off my lawn!

Yea, for some tasks an impact wrench is the only way. Like the top bolt on shocks. One of my neighbors was fighting to get the blade off of his mower. We rolled it down to my garage and it took longer to get the impact gun out and stretch the hose over to the mower than it took to remove the nut. Zip, and done.
He said he put an cordless impact on his wish list after that.

Yeah lots of outdoor planning chores last weekend. Its like Glen's boss showed up and left the beer at home. I had left some time yesterday to drive the 911 around so guess who woke up to rain?

The boss always leaves the beer at home. And I drink it! Burp. We "got" to clean the inside of the house today. The two ladies that are supposed to do it stopped for several weeks because of the virus. They were about to get er done last week and the lady that is the boss got sick with some other non virus issue. So I got to drag out the vacuum hose and attachments. The good news is my repairs to the system worked and it ran fine the entire time.

Did you get the highway vibration removed?
My debit card getting some funky charges. Good thing it is my debit card and account with my hacking protection ie. no balance in the account for them to get. Can just kill the card and get another on without having to redo all my bills I pay with my other card. Going to have to re-do it soon anyway though it is about the expire. Meet with my advisor to move my 401K into an IRA so I can pay myself the difference between unemployement and wages. Sure glad I am over 59-1/2.

Yea, the highway vibration is gone. I don't know if it was one of the universal joints or the shaft itself or the overall balance of the parts. That is why I had them all done, and it is gone. I can cruise at 75 and not have any vibrations. As you know the legal limit on the turnpike is 75, and only RV's pulling a boat go that slow. The average speed people are running is 85 with the occasional 6,000 pound SUV going 95 or more. My El Camino starts to breath hard at 80 and the wind noise get obnoxious. It is not a GT car for sure.

Saw on Youtube there have been several people break the record for Gumball in the last month. The guy that has held it so long attributed the low times to no traffic due to virus. They've decided to keep the times official, but have an asterix to denote the virus conditions. An Audi even still had the 120mph factory top speed limiter on. Think it has dropped from 28 some odd hours to 26 something.

When I first got my jacked up GMC Jimmy with huge tires it was jacked up with shocks only to add the 4 inch lift to clear the tires. It killed the rear u-joint. Fixing it required not only re-balancing the drive shaft, but added spring lifts and shocks for the increased travel, AND special axle mounts that angled the front and rear differentials to keep the increased angles from killing u-joints.
It would have been cheaper to go back to regular diameter tires, but where's the fun in that? ![]() When the rear u-joint broke, I just pulled the drive shaft out of the transfer case and put a cap from a can of paint on the hole. Then locked out the front hubs so I could just use the front wheels since it was 4x4. Well, it just made grinding noises and didn't move. Seems it had been stuck in mud long enough the grease in the front hubs had been replaced with mud. It rusted out the springs that made the lock-out hubs work. Had to replace the hubs as well as the suspension stuff.

When I drove a BoxsterS I put on some valve stem caps that had a cool Porsche logo on them. Noticed a vibration fron 90 to 95. Swithed back to the plain plastic and it went away. Guess those fancy valve stem caps were to heavy and the wheels needed to be rebalanced with them installed.

So, you are saying the Oklahoma red mud is not a good lube? Maybe you didn't keep enough water in it!

Phew, I 'had" to drink one of the bosses beers. The yard is mowed and I am cleaned up. It was lows 70s and a very light breeze. But the humidity is from the Baja Oklahoma area and it was 70%. Not a horrible day, but sticky. June his soon and we are getting close to 90.
The Fire department decided to let us have access to the autocross site. So on the 14th it is time to abuse some tires.

The 4 Wheeler guys said the front hubs had to have been submerged in mud for at least 2 weeks for the mud to push out all the grease.
After fixing it they took it to a mud race at the fairgrounds and drove it thru the mud racing pit to make sure all the suspension and 4 wheel drive stuff worked. I wouldn't have know but when i picked it up, it was way too clean. When I said something about it being so clean, they told me about the test and were really surprised, it made it all the way thru the pit. Said most of the competitor's trucks didn't even make it all the way thru the pit. Told them I sure would have liked watching.

HA! A grid of wire depicting how we want the contractor to ground the building and equipment in it. I'm betting its not followed.

At our old office we had three phase transformer on a pole just outside the building. They replaced the pole and transformer. Then drove a copper rod into the ground and the rod must have been 10 feet tall. I was impressed.

We used the cheap versions of those in our koi pond. We string fishing line in a star pattern over he pond. It is supposed to keep the blue herons and other cranes from the pond. We bought several of the copper clad steel posts, not the solid copper ones. I cut them in half, and drilled a little hole on what I determined was to be the top. Then I just tapped then in a couple of feet into down though the good topsoil into the clay soil of the back yard. Then run the string through the holes and done.

Good thing you did that fishing line in a star pattern instead of a pentagram. Otherwise you might get some koi that turn red, grow teeth and horns. and eat the heron! Or they might start wearing yamakas and observing honica.
