Was supposed to interview 3 different ladies to work as my housecleaner today. Nobody showed up. One lady called a few minutes ago, appologized and ask to come by tomorrow. They are supposed to help disabled and work for about half what cleaning services charge. Services charge minimum of 3 hours at $45/hr.

SIL's daughter was able to clean in 2 hrs every other week and only charged $20/hr. She stopped because she got a job in a Walmart deli. They started working her almost 60hrs a week and she was afraid she would get and pass me covid.

I can barely keep up with dishes and putting the trash out. Freaking hate not being able to do anything!

For the photos, I always hit the go advanced button below the post window, then I click on the click here to upload photos button, and use that. Super easy, and the photos are hosted on Pelican. That way in the future is someone is looking at a post the photo will show up. There are tons of threads with just a red X from when people used Photobucket, and then photobucket started charging and the customers said nope, goodby. So the links are dead.

With the photos upload, they are always there. For this thread, it does not matter as only David has started at the beginning, and read all the way through. Sine I started at the beginning, I have read all the posts.

It does really matter on the 911 technical site. Upload a photo of a part of a procedure, or what the part looks like it is nice to see it the photo a decade or more later. It I upload via Tapatalk on my phone, it uses a web link to their site, and deletes it after a few months, so the dreaded red X is all that shows up.

Only lets me upload if the file is already on my computer, not on another site.
So I would have to download it to my computer, then upload to pelican. Which I think it alread uploads if the pic is on my computer to start with.

Porsche-poor 07-30-2020 07:07 AM

Moring all. Good luck Richard I hope someone comes thru.

GH85Carrera 07-30-2020 07:07 AM

Yea, it has to be a photo on your computer to work. I just have the photos organized into ones I took or photos for the random pic thread.

I just right click on a web photos and save to my computer. Then upload to Pelican. Delete them when done uploading.

Supposed to put the company pc and ip phone in a box on my porch. Don't have a box to fit the two 27in monitors.

GH85Carrera 07-30-2020 10:25 AM

Put them on your back porch, and tell them to just go back there and you have no boxes.

RKDinOKC 07-30-2020 08:13 PM

I gots a big covered front porch.

Gots 2 Porsches in the garage. Better keep the door closed or it might confuse em.

P&C said I had a laptop. Told them the Mac Laptop needed a new logic board so they told me to trash it and sent me a new desktop PC.
Fixed the laptop for a lot less than the new PC told them and they said it wasn't any good just keep it.
Mac laptop has faster processor, more memory, and bigger hard drive than the new desktop PC they replaced it with.

Still have not gotten any unemployment $$. The debit card says I gots money, but also says not activated even though activated several times.

It will be end of August before receive severence pay and health care Cobra info. Looks like Cobra is about $500/mo.

Maid is supposed to be here at 8am Monday. Said she likes dogs and really needs the money.

BaT is putting together the 928 listing.

Need someone to help me figure out and fix why the front bedroom is 5 degrees warmer than the rest of the house. When MS brother was in that room put in a window A/C in and he ran it all the time. Got a vent booster and it don't help much. Would rather find and fix the heat problem than re-install the window unit. Want to make it a home office with a professional looking background for zoom and team meetings.

GH85Carrera 07-31-2020 06:32 AM

My office is always several degrees warmer in the summer or colder in the winter than the rest of the house. For whatever reason all the other bedrooms have their own return. The master bedroom has two inlets for the HIVAC and a dedicated return. This room has one inlet, and only the open door into hallway as a return. When someday we have to replace the HIVAC one thing for sure that will be addressed is a return and a bigger inlet. Heck even the living room has two inlets and a dedicated return.

The master bedroom is noticeably cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter than the rest of the house. That is just fine since I spend a 1/3 of my life in there.

Even the closet in the master bedroom has a vent, and a return. As well as the bathrooms.

RKDinOKC 07-31-2020 08:17 AM

Have 2 vents and a return in the hall between the living and master.
There is a vent in each of the other bedrooms with a return in the hallway furthest from my hot bedroom. The hot bedroom is about 5 degrees hotter summer AND winter. weird. Felt funny running the ac window unit in the winter.

When the hvac guy did the plenum for the new unit he made the duct going to that room positioned in the Plenum to get the most air.

Have even shoved cameras down the vents to make sure they are not blocked.

Have a vent booster that sits on the vent and runs a fan pulling more air from that vent when it senses air flow. Does not help much.

I am at a loss and wonder if there is no attic insulation over that room.

Phew, the mean ol boss made me edge, and mow, and blow the grass off the sidewalks. It was certainly the right weather for it. It was in the 70s when I started, and I was done the temps had just hit 80 and a nice breeze. The humidity and more important the dew point was below the ambient temperature so the grass was not all covered in dew.

Now I get the weekend off!

flipper35 07-31-2020 11:12 AM

Afternoon all. Work is nuts right now. At least the days go fast! Can't wait to double our department though.

RKDinOKC 07-31-2020 11:53 AM

That's the biggest issue with all this rain. That fescue grows like crazy.

Noah930 07-31-2020 12:38 PM

Trying to make a slideshow for a family event (for my daughter) this weekend. It has been super painful.

So easy, supposedly. Yeah, if everything works as it's supposed to. Instead, it's been a slow process figuring out how to get a job done via back door techniques. The photos, the music, the slideshow program itself...

My macbook is about 8 years old, so it's super slow now. It bogs down very easily. But it's got my itunes/music on it, and it has the vast majority of the photos I intend to use. I don't want to use my daughter's computer, otherwise she'll see what I'm making for her. And my son's computer doesn't have an itunes account or any photos. I thought of importing the photos, but the airdrop feature won't work on my computer (don't know why), so picking out the couple hundred photos and transferring them will have to be via thumb drive. Possible, but just takes a little longer. Then his mac doesn't have an itunes account. Ok, so I'll just open up itunes to my account on his computer. But because his computer isn't recognized/designated by itunes under my account, I can't actually access my itunes purchases. Plus, the songs I have imported into my computer via its disc drive don't transfer over. Plus, his laptop doesn't have an internal disc drive (and we don't have an external one to hook up via USB). The fourth macbook in the household (my 1st grader's) is a loaner from school, and doesn't have iphoto loaded on it. So instead of using any of my kids' newer macbooks, I chose to use my own.

About the photos. Most are on my computer. But some are on my phone. OK, just plug the phone into the computer to download the pics, right? So how come not all the photos on my phone show up when I plug it into the computer? There were about 2 or 3 months of photos at the beginning of my phone photos and the most recent 2 months of photos on my phone that don't show up to download. What's up with that? OK, I'll just email those 20 or so pics to myself, and then import them from my email to iphoto. But wait, now Safari on my computer isn't working! It was just working 2 days ago. WTF? So I logged onto my email from my son's computer, downloaded the phone pics I emailed to myself onto his iphoto, and then exported them to a thumb drive, which I then plugged into my computer to import into iphoto.

But I can't access all my photos normally. It only shows them (under "photos") up to mid-2017. Why is that? For the more recent photos (as well as the old ones), I have to go to the "albums" setting. But when using the "create slideshow" feature, when you click on "add photos" it takes you to the pics in the "photos" section, but not the ones in the "albums" section. To add photos to the slideshow from the "albums" section, I have to go to the pics themselves in "albums" and "share" them to the slideshow. OK, small problem, but it still took me a little bit of trial-and-error to figure it out.

But then the photos all add to the end of the slideshow. While playing around on my son's macbook, I figured out how to add a photo to the front, back, or middle of the slideshow, depending on where I left the cursor in the slideshow itself when I added a new photo. Great feature. But how come it doesn't work like that on my computer? They only add to the end of the program. OK, not a problem--I'll just add them to the end, and then click and drag them to whatever order I want them to play. But after I got to about 60 or 70 photos, my computer got so bogged down when moving around photos, it would get into that endless spinning rainbow of death, and I'd have to force-quit. OK, to work around that, I'll just make sure to add the photos in the order I want them to play. I can do that, but it may take a little bit of planning to go back through 8 years of photos and figure out where I want them in sequence before I add them to the slideshow.

But then, Mrs. Noah found some photos on her phone and wanted me to add them in. So I went through the whole rigamarole of having her email them to me, downloading them to my son's computer, exporting them to the thumb drive, and then importing them into my computer. (But how do I tell her I don't like some of the photos?)

It's taken me about 3 nearly sleepless nights this past week, but I think I've finally got the slideshow done for Saturday morning. Now I just have to figure out how to play the thing on a Zoom conference call that's being run by someone else. I'll try to set up a Zoom meeting at home between my kids' computers tonight to see how to play a slideshow from a computer that's not hosting the meeting. Worst case scenario (plan B) is that I download the slideshow to a thumb drive and deliver it to the person running the slideshow so that she can plug it in and play it directly. She's got to live around here...I think.

GH85Carrera 07-31-2020 02:29 PM

Wow, lots of work there Noah.

Working with iTunes is worse that arguing with a mad drunk redhead. The number one worst program ever written, iTunes.

I can't even suggest how to help since you are using a Mac. It is easy on a PC with PowerPoint.

Noah930 07-31-2020 03:45 PM

It shouldn't be a lot of work. That's the supposed beauty of of Apple stuff. But for some reason (maybe because the computer is so old?) stuff doesn't work as advertised. It works in other (newer) computers, but just not as reliable on mine. So I have had to figure out a lot of plan B, plan C ways to get stuff done. Not impossible (yet), but everything takes time. Grrr.

Guy selling the GTS, let's call him John, is taking it to local Cars & Coffee in the morning. Also aid BAT was really excited about the pictures of it and are optimistic aboud getting the asking price. Recently a guy bought a guy's 2 week old Shelby Mustang for 20K more than the owner paid. Maybe someone will make an offer on the GTS.

Sorry, haven't tried to put sound with pictures for about 15 years. Most times now they embed a video. There has got to be an easy way. Seem to remember Autoplaying a slideshow and having an option to play music during autoplay. To me the important thing, though a bit time consuming is to make all the graphics the size of the display resolution for the best speed and smallest presentation size. Have used both PowerPoint (Persuasion) and Keynote. Also done lots for overhead projectors.

Have a friend that is a funeral director. They do a lot of picture presentations with music for the viewing. Nephew's FIL did pictures with music he showed at his rehearsal dinner.

Did a video animation showing how the company's product works on a gas dehydrator for a jury trial that had been going on 15 years. Showed the products could not have caused a gas explosion that killed a guy. He was found with a cigarette and lighter in his hands, investigators determined he was lighting a cigarette. There were no smoking signs on the well site. When the video showed how the products were installed and worked the case was dropped. Don't feel sorry for his family. The procedure was to sue ever product manufacturer on the well site and most just settle out of court. The family had already gotten millions.

Sure did a lot in the 40 years I worked for that company.

My iPhone like to make a random photos video of pictures from my phone every so often. Nothing better than looking at the photos I took of the car as it was taken apart so I can get it back together properly.

Photos like these, with smarmy music. It just touches my heart.

The guy that owned all the 7-11 convenience stores in this area (as a bunch of 911) said he would buy my car if it had a black interior. Said all his other cars have black interiors. Told him Iris Blue Metallic is considered the best color, there are only three, and they all have grey interiors.

GH85Carrera 08-03-2020 06:24 AM

Dying an interior black is not that hard if that is what he really wants.

The boss's wife got up early and went outside in the 67 degree temps to pull weeds and perform maintenance on the 6 different flower gardens. Kind of like old 80s vehicles I have, there is always something that needs attention. Of course her two "bodyguards" were out there to protect her from squirrel attacks, rabbits and anything else edible, and to inspect the work. When I got up and dressed and ready to feed the dogs, um her bodyguards, somehow the female just decided I was in need of companionship and protection in the house. As I was scooping up the food she always lets out a few barks as if to say hurry up. The male dog heard that, and came flying through the doggie door at full run, and did a two foot long four paw drift right up to his feeding position. It was pretty funny.

Last evining a young bunny rabbit was in the back yard, in the koi pond flower bed, and Reuben was barking like a little tiny dog with a very high pitched bark, much different than his normal bark. The bunny was hiding in a group of some orchids and plants and he was after it. The bunny was in full panic mode. We went out to grab the dog because to prevent flower destruction, and on the off chance he caught it, bunny destruction. The bunny mad a full lap around our storage building and back to the west part of the yard and under a fence. He may think twice before coming back.
