Yep, but it is an unfortunate reality at many family run businesses.
Back in the stone ages when I was in high school my home room class the teacher wanted someone to read a passage from the bible every morning. She did allow the Jewish kids to not have to read from the old testament, but I bet in the 45 years she had been teaching she might have has 2 Jewish kids. I was a even bigger jerk then than now. There are some horrible passages in the bible. Like little kids torn to shreds for teasing an old man about his bald head, or Lot throwing his two virgin daughters to a crowd to do with as they please, but don't bother him anymore. She stopped calling on me to read even though I was the ONLY volunteer ever. I never got to burning bulls and the other scary stuff of the old testament. |
This was a sole owner business but he thought he could slip one in. If even one person would challenge his company most state employment laws would side with the employee not the company.

There was a management training class with the guy teaching it using Proverbs. Pissed a lot of managers off. Ended up threatening to fire anyone that talked negative about the training.
I told people he was told to train the managers and was an avid Bible reader. If he was into Treasure Island, or Moby Dick he would be using Long John Silvers or Captain Ahab instead of Proverbs. |

I received my tag renewal notice today for the 911. For many years it was $21.50 to get the new sticker. A few years ago the legislature raised the tag "fees" and raised the renewal itself to $26, then turned around and added a Insurance fee of $1.50 to verify that my insurance is real. then they added in a mail fee that even a tag agent adds in if I go in person. That brings it to $29.50
Now I can drive a few miles to a tag agent and get it done in 5 minutes then drive home, or I can now do it on-line. So on-line for me it is, and of course there is $2.50 "convenience fee" to use a credit card. With my old El Camino paid for since 1992 I can likely make the round trip for about the same price and save the $2.50 put I waste my time. So the tag is renewed, and it will be mailed to me in a week or so. I have until the end of September before tho old tag expires, so I am spending money before necessary, but the 30 bucks now and no worry of forgetting and letting it expire is worth it to do it now mentality. |
Last summer I got a ticket because we somehow missed the letter to renew tags on the blue car. Still came out money ahead because we were over a year behind. The Cobra tags were a one time fee. Another year we can pay a couple hundred on the truck for "antique" plates and be done on it too. The motorcycle is $18 for two years.
|
I can get antique tags for my cars but they are the same price year to year, or I can get a 10 year renewal for $98. I think there are restrictions as to how much I can drive with the antique tag.
The cool part is I can find just about any old tag of the era, and use that. I then get a sticker to put on the windshield that shows it is current. I prefer my personalized tag, and it is current. The personalized tag on my El Camino has been on there since 1992. The current personalized tags are just printed, and totally flat. My El Camino tag is stamped and embossed. Ya can't get them like that anymore. |
The collector plate on the Cobra is restricted to where I would have to pay $15 to drive it in January. I have driven it in November and February here in WI but with no top and that short windshield I will not be driving it in January so I will save that $15.

no top means you have to out run the snow drifts right?

Thought no top meant it was a gentleman's club.

Saw the 928 on BaT. GLWS!
I think my 7 yr-old's superpower is being able to fart at will. |
Yeah every time I see th3 928 sitting in the garage I want to keep and drive it some more. Problem is health issues just won't let me drive a stick any more. argh.
Tell your 7 yr-old there are people that make a living farting at will. But I personally would not want to be will. |

They did not to stereotype his toys, and refused to give him a toy gun of any sort. He would use an "Action figure" bend it in half as a gun and pretended to shoot everything. When he discovered his ability to burp and fart and make adults cringe he loved it. His sister was mortified and the idea of a fart. Pretty soon he could say his full name while burping. He loved to see how long of a fart he could work up. He was always in fights and if you asked why he would say it was fun. People would ask if they spanked him, and they said about 5 times per day. He did grow up to be a Forest ranger, and loves to be outdoors. He is married now and has his own son and his parents just roll with laughter when he tells them about some crazy thing his son did. |
The 928 is looking great Richard! Already getting lots of interest in the comments, I think it’s going to ring a bell!

I drove in the snow once and there was only about 4" on the roads. Lots of drifts involved in that drive! |
