I was checking out my spam folder to see if any were legit and not spams.

I had several from random people sending an invoice. I guess some companies are know to pay invoices that look legit. Since I am the one that pays the company invoices, I know exactly what is owed. They were of course all scams.

Damn scammers. Just wasting my time.

Not that old. It was built in 1896.

Oklahoma City was founded on April 22, 1889. There are a few of the old houses that were owned by the rich folks in the oldest historic neighborhood still standing. They have all undergone extensive updating and renovation. The poor folks houses of that era were all demolished for urban expansion.

It was really cool to eat at the "The old pink house restaurant" that is from 1771. So it predates the founding of the USA and the declaration of Independence.

The Pirate's House is the oldest building in the state. somewhere around 100 years older than pink house. Pink house has better food though.

Most of the really old stuff in town has been extensively renovated. Mine is just a little cottage on the edge of downtown. Started life as an African Baptist Church for the lumber mill workers. not quite 800 sq ft.
The people I bought it from did a decent remodel. They ripped out the walls and insulated things, had spray in insulation done underneath, and had Pella double hung and double pane windows installed. My AC is two mini splits and they handle it without a problem. One is in the bedroom and I kept the bedroom at 75 during the day for the dog and 70 at night all summer. Didn't have a power bill over $100.

One huge advantage of a small house is small utility bills.

My old bachelor pad house was just under 1,000 square feet, but it had a garage!

It has been over 30 years now but I never saw $100 electric bills. My wife wanted a Koi pond, and it has a large pump running 24x7/365 and a heater when the temps gets below 20 degrees for very long. She has a indoor fresh water tank with a large filter pump, and a second air pump, and a heater again 24/7/356 and our house is a whole lot bigger than 1,000 square feet. And I do sometimes run the AC in the garage, and in the winter I run the heater if I am out there working.

Between how poorly insulated most older houses in the area are, aging AC systems, and the power company bumping rates, a lot of people in houses similar to mine were paying 250+ over the summer.

It’s a nice little house. Dead ends at the railroad tracks, but there’s about 30 feet of heavily wooded railroad right of way between the house and tracks. Because of how the tracks angle, the lot behind me isn’t buildable so it’s all trees. I just have the one neighbor. It’s an Airbnb, but the owner is usually selective about who gets to rent. She used to rent to film crews, but that tanked hard with the strike.

I rebuilt the deck out back as my first project. A few joist/beam repairs and replaced all of the decking with marine grade 2x6. It’s 16’x16’. Perfect size for me. I set up a 100” projector screen on one side and spend a ton of time out there.

I was really lucky in my old house. It was built in the early 1950s but every man that lived there before me was a Mr. Fix-it. The workbench in my garage now is one I unbolted from the wall in the garage at that house. So I have had it since 1982. The house had been upgraded to central heat and air. I added a 200 Amp breaker box instead of the 80 Amp.

One of the former residents must have been a concrete contractor. It had the only double wide driveway in the neighborhood. A huge concrete pad under the neat back porch that was added on. The chain link fence in the back yard around the premier of the house was all set in concrete, and it had a concrete pad for the storage building.

I liked that old house, but I am glad I sold it after getting married. It has turned into an Asian and Mexican neighborhood. Lots of rentals and the neighborhood is not nearly as nice as it was before. Lots of poorly maintained houses now, typical rentals.

I got curious and looked up my old house on Google Earth. I went to street view, and the photo shows the yard is not fertilized and lush like I had it, but not overgrown and the old place looks good. The flowerbeds in front have all been emptied of the plants. I had some mean pointy holly bushes in front of the bedroom windows so no one was going to go through that window without armor.

The house looks like it is in good shape.

Fall weather had finally arrived. We got just over an inch of rain yesterday evening, and it is 66 degrees and the high is supposed to stay in the 70s. I like it!

We woke up to low 60s and clear skies. Highs of 72 degrees today. Love it!

It should be great weather for the track day on Monday.

Hey Capt, I am am about to drive up to the Ozark International Raceway.

https://ozarksinternationalraceway.com/

It is a very pretty very rural track that is 3.97 miles long. So a bit longer than the Qatar track where the F1 cars are doing 1:24s. I hope to get around the track in under 3 minutes. I will not be taking corners at 120 and pulling 5G in braking.

But just like F1 cars, my car has no traction control or ABS. So it is just the same as F1 cars.

We drive the track tomorrow. it is a 5.5 hour drive for me. It should be a blast.

Have fun in the land of the rising sun!

Morning all. The rain is back possibly for good this time. Fall colors are coming out and that means raking soon.

Wow, just wow. The Ozarks International Raceway is one amazing track. They have a pair of nesting bald eagles on site of the 400 acre facility. It is full of trees, and just beautiful. The track is basically 4 miles long. There is not one true straightaway at all. The closets to that is called the roller coaster. I survived the roller coaster, what a ride. In my 200 HP 85 911, going down the first hill, to top out in 3rd, and shift into 4th as I go up the hill. At the crest you test your fortitude, and only once did I keep my foot planted, and I was at about 100 maybe 105, and I felt the front end get light and dance around a bit. Back down the next part and nail the brakes back into 3rd and keep going. After getting light, I settled for lifting off the go pedal at the top.

One other section is coming out of the hairpin, run the RPM to redline slowly as it is still a curve, shift into third, as you go down a steep hill. My car goes from 60 to 90 in third gear in a second. I wish it could accelerate like that on flat ground. If I had a fast shifting transmission I would shift up to 4th aadd speed, and downshift back to 3rd for the uphill part. As it is, I just run it to 6,400 RPM, tap the brakes in the corner, and up the hill to the esses.

I will do some frame grabs of the videos I shot to show it better.
