Jury duty for a month? Wow. Are you called for a grand jury?

The last several times I was called they filled the jury pool and sent me home on the same day.

I was once called to jury duty when the court was going to try a famous murder trial of a police officer. I was very happy to not get on that one.

I have been called for county and federal court duty. I have only served on one trial, and on the second day, the judge sent us into the hall, and 15 minutes later declared a mistrial and sent us home. It was for a 18 year old that broke the window of a car to steal just over a dollar in change in the center console. We never found out why it was a mistrial.

Not really the whole month. Its a really stupid system you are on call for every Thursday of the month so only 4 days but it screws up any plans you have. I had to get excused for one of them as we have a planned trip to the Oregon coast that week.

The first time I was called, there was a judge seeing people wanting to be excused for various reasons. Only the lady with a baby in arms was excused. That judge was a regular customer of the place where I worked and we knew each other. I figured I should give it a shot at getting excused. He said hello to me, and when I told him I was important at my small business where I worked he asked it I made over 200 grand per year. I said no, not even close, and he said you are not really important then, go sit down. So much for knowing the judge.

Last night as we went to bed, my wife said we had a fly buzzing around in our master bathroom. She just closed the door to trap it in there. This morning she handed me the fly swatter and sent me on a hunter & kill mission. That little sucker must have had a cloaking device that only worked in short bursts. I would hear him, but it was invisible. Every so often he would appear. He was FAST. I missed one shot. The door into the closet was closed and I closed the door into the toilet area, so it was just the main shower & hot-tub like bathtub, and the two lavatories. I finally got him after 5 minutes or so.

I was the successful at protecting the household from the unwanted intruder.

Trick to swatting flys when they land is to aim slightly behind them. They takeoff backwards.

We got down to 66 this morning! The boss's wife rousted me up at 6:00 AM to go work in the yard. Besides mowing and edging, she insisted I raise up one sprinkler head. It is just inches from the driveway, and likely sometime over the last 25 years someone drove over it and pushed it lower into the ground. I had ignored it, as it still got above the ground to spray, but it was a bit low. I put in 12 foot spacing for the heads, so there was overlap originally, before she took over the west part of the driveway down to a 1 foot tall wall we put in, to end the garden and have grass to mow again.

The garden has caused me to move some heads in that area. That part of the yard was never dry, but the boss's wife is happy now.

The yard is covered in a very heavy dew, and of course there is no wind to help dry it. I will have to wait until the temps are in the 80s and the grass dry enough to mow. We did get 0.16 inches of rain yesterday morning, so the yard will be soft.

Several day of cool mornings here.

We received 3.39 inches of rain yesterday. Whoo Hooo. We had flash flood warning which we always laugh at, as if we have a flood, I will expect the animals to be collecting two by two first. We have I-44 close by and it is 40 or 50 feet lower than us, and would make an excellent river.

Always fun. Now the really fun part is finding the leak and fixing it.

Ouch. You can't find another place? At my old office we had a regular maintenance agreement with one company. They meant we were a priority customer and put us at the top of the list when there was an issue.

Phew.

I was rousted out of bed and today was more honey doos. First go to Sam's for fruit. Only then could I get my breakfast, and start on some coffee. Then I got an email from my business partner to download a DSM file of most of downtown OKC. It is 12 Gig.

I had a package I have to mail today, and I was in the middle of that when the boss's wife demanded we go clean the Koi pond filters. All the recent rains had really brought in some crap, and the alga is in high gear and a mess. The pump was not pumping much. So I had to pull the pump, and clean it out and the filter bag it sits in. That is always a challenge to disconnect it and reconnect it.

Then I finally got to finish my second cup of coffee. Next up, off to drop off the package at the post office. The postage is on it, so it is just drop it in the bin, and boogie out. No lines to wait in.

Yea, 97 is toasty. We are still at 83 and the high is supposed to get to 90 at 4:00 PM.

That file I downloaded ended up at 14 GIG as a zip file. Now to open it and check it out.

Everything here is GREEN with the recent rains. I hope it looks like this next year for Parade. We sometimes have July and dry conditions and a lot of brown dormant grass and vegetation.

The 14 gig file is amazing. We shot it with a prototype camera system that the camera moves and shoots one straight down, then it tilts up and pans across and shoots three images, drops back the center and shoots three shots, then it swivels back and shoots three panning shots, then comes back to the center straight down. It is a massive amount of data and a 2 inch pixel. It is super high resolution. It makes a full 3D image that we can virtually "fly around" in the city, and even between buildings. Really cool. It allows one to measure a window, or a building width, or anything in view.
