Wow.

I wonder if one could get it to break that 200mph mark with the addition of a Cool Collar . .. chromed, of course.

If Porsche claims 0-60 in 3.4 seconds, then someone will get it to do it in 3.2, guaranteed.

They are always conservative on those numbers.

No car is worth 180 miles of driving I-5, surrounded with suicidal traffic for at least 100 miles of that. When the P-car left here, one vow I made was to never buy a car that needed to go to Portland to get worked on...that part of P-car ownership was hell to me.

Sheesh. My cheapo BMW K-bike will do 0-60 under 3 seconds. . . brand new for$15k. If you want adrenaline...look to two wheels rather than four. Almost puked in my helmet the first time I wacked it open at 7k rpms.

Just sayin'.

Ditto for my R12S. Much, much cheaper than fast car.

Livi,
The prior 997 is 3.4 sec too. You're only getting 20 more hp w/direct injection etc.

It (the prior 997) is a fast car. Just sooo plush. It doesn't give me the same rush as getting on boost in my 930. I don't doubt everything in the current Porsche lineup is faster than the 930. They (I haven't driven a GT3) just don't feel involved. I sure would like to drive a Turbo with no nav/radio, lighter seats, 1/2 the sound deading removed, light door panels etc.

Thats just the point. The perfect daily driver. Commuting my 50 miles daily route to work on the motorway. Then, for more spirited connected weekend drives, I would take my 3.2.

I hope they have a device that keeps your hands gripping the steering wheel during those 3.4 sec launches.

I'm more suprised by the "no gas guzzler tax" comment. Pretty impressive for 500 HP.

But why drive that to work and not a Saab? Point A to B on mostly straight multilane roads?

I call BS. No way you can puke with that kind of G force in your face.

The operative word was "almost" puked in my helmet. I don't want to think about the repurcussions of actually doing so.

480 lb bike / 167hp = 2.87 lb/hp $15k
3500 lb pcar/500hp = 7.0 lb/hp $115k

Can you spell "no-brainer"?
