96 4 cyl outback, ok but gutless and now a '02 6 cyl LL Bean outback. that thing kicks ass. |

Yes for me - 2006 outback. All the porsches were my regular drivers - the Subaru is nice since I don't hear the scraping sound if I miss-judge the parking spot curb. A bit under-powered, but you just need to manage it. I never thought there was such a thing as a daily car with too much power, but the twin turbo was plentiful. In Oregon, the Subarus come with all the bumper stickers pre-installed... |

I fit this thread I suppose... I have two Porsches and I own a Subie and a Pick em up truck... In my fleet are a 1975 914, with a carbed 3.2 engine it has GT body work, and close ratio (active:p) gearbox.. My other track car is a 1969 911T which I have built to 1850# wet..this car is full cage coil over all around, all composite body work,... all the stuff you expect... EFI bla bla AIM dash...GPS data logging.. My daily driver is an '08 Subaru WRX... I average 24 mpg calculated.. I just did a run down the NYS Thruway.... and averaged 30 mpg.. The Subaru is a great car... Lastly I have a Ford F250 Powerstroke Diesel 6.0 I tow the fun cars around with that... in a 26' Haulmark... FWIW The Subie is a great daily driver.. |

I'll bite. No Scooby-doos for me. I hate the agricultural sound of a boxer four. Just can't get past its coarse firing impulses. I have two BMW's as daily drivers, both with creamy straight-6 power. One 2004 E46 5-speed Sport Package 325i sedan on PS2's and one 2006 X3 3.0i Steptronic Premium Package. Fine cars with handling so competent that there's no fun at sane speeds, and with educated option selection, some shopping around, and a BMWCCA rebate, pretty much the same money as a Scooby-doo. Both still on free maintenance, so I've got money left over to keep the more entertaining 3.2 Carrera properly fettled. |

Between the kids, wife and myself I've owned 8 Subarus since 1980. Currently drive a 05 Outback XT (turbo, plenty fast). One son drives a 09 Impreza Outback Sport and the other drives a 05 Impreza RS. All are AWD since we live in the Utah mountains. The P-cars are for summer fun. Oh, and the wife's winter car is a 04 FX35 AWD. I need a smaller house and a bigger garage. |

What does Subie have in common with Porsche? I don't get it. I've been in a few Subies. Mere appliances. Porsches are not appliances. I would guess that if I looked at the wrist of most Porsche 911 guys, I would see a TAG, Rolex, Omega - but not a timex. |

well i have my 911, WRX http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251864122.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251864186.jpg still prefer the 911 to drive around |

OK, time for me to chirp in. I've been lurking here for a long time but never actually posted. Let me say that this is an amazing site, along with thesamba and bat, my favorite. I have a 78 911 sc with a water cooled flat 6 24 valve 3.3 subaru eg33 engine. Some of you may remember http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g4cVMmJKyLg I live in NYC, anyone want to go for a drive this weekend? |

I almost bought an audi s4 6 months ago. I ended up getting a jetta tdi instead. I am pretty happy with my little tdi. I have a 500hp camaro if I really want to have fun. |

Currently a 3.0 Outback keeps the 3.0 SC company, but the new family wagon will be here in a couple of months:http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1251866640.jpg With its 3.6 V6 and 220kw it will likely bully the little 911, might be time for a 964 or 993:D |

I had a Legacy LSi until I sold it last year. That car was great in the snow and drifting on the gravel roads. I have another four wheel drive SUV now. Your theory holds true here. |

Question: What Japanese company bought the rights to the flat four engine design from Porsche many years ago for sale in Japan. Answer: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (Subaru) Not a theory anymore! Now we know the Porsche/Subaru connection! :) Love my 914 Subie turbo conversion! |

2007 Outback for my DD. Second Subaru wagon after a 2004. 3.2 cab and 993 C4S for the P cars. |

The tech buy could be true for either company, but I can't see how Porsche has any rights to the flat four design (or any overall engine architecture), hence I don't think anyone bought anything. Sounds like internet rumor to me. Subaru's are nice, but just because both have a flat engine doesn't make them similar to P-cars. Just like a Caprice Classic with a V8 isn't similar to a Ferrari F430. I don't delude myself into thinking I have some trickle down rally car Porsche in my driveway. Subaru's are nice for other reasons. |

Well, I don't have an entire Subaru, but I do have a Subaru engine in my airplane. Does that count??? |

Wife was looking at a Forester a couple of years ago. I drove the 911 to the stealership to meet her there. The sales guy met us outside after the test drive. He took on look at my car and started walking back into the building without us; I though what the heck! Then he turned and said: "I'm sure you don't want to buy a Subaru"; and that was that. We ended up buying a lightly used Toyota Land Cruiser one month later. jt -84 targa |

I have a twist in this theory... I bought a 2004 996 C4S. I bought it used. When I bought it, it had been purchased new 9 days earlier. It had 1800 miles on it. The guy who bought it new- it's worse, he actually leased it - changed his mind and traded it in... on a Subaru. |
