Not me.....

Have never really liked the way the Subaru boxer 4 sounds.
Something like a CrissCraft boat I think.

I'm in a family related car.....06 VW GTI.
And have my eye on getting the new 2012 VW Golf R when it comes out.
All wheel drive, choice of gearbox's, 2.0 turbo engine making 270hp.
That will do it for me.

While I am redoing the 86 cab I use my 2000 Audi A6 2.7 twin turbo (chipped:D) as the family transportation, my wife drives a 2003 Saab93 cabriolet, and pretty much the rest of the road time is spent on the BMW K1200LT touring bike.

I expect to have the 911 finished in time for the Easter run, and I was sad to miss the SOCAL NYD run once again.

Well I don't have a Suby, but I do have it's Japanese cousin for daily duties.

I feel like the theory isn't "Porsche owners own Subarus" but rather, "If you own a 911 (or any non 4 door Porsche) odds are you own something quite a bit more practical."

I have my 535is when I need to move more than two people around:

The guardian of the 911, the big brother that runs errands and picks up parts, He who gives up his shelter so that the 911 may stay warm in the winter, I present to you.............

The Jeep.

I had a Subaru once - and it turned out to be the worst car I ever owned. I spent more time/effort/money keeping that thing running for the 6 years (and that's the shortest I've ever held on to a car) I owned it than all my other cars put together (although the 911 may change that statement as I rebuild it this spring).

I've only had 3 other cars in the last 25 years (all Audi's) in addition to the P-car. I don't plan on getting rid of the Audi's any time soon.

V8 Touareg in white of course. All in the family.

81 SC Ray 01-04-2011 05:02 AM

WOW - that is scary - I have an 81 SC (daily driver - my only car) but, my wife drives a 2006 Subaru Outback....and so do I whenever we go somewhere as a family.

The Subie is a great car and a lot of bang for the buck. A few goodies have made it even better: chipped, exhaust, downpipe, and suspension enhancements. Had it tuned on a dyno to almost 300 hp and it still gets 21-22 mpg. Had it for a year and a half and never a problem. Got a 2004 Avalanche for the heavy hauling. Best truck I have ever owned. And then, of course, there is the heartthrob.

Porsche & Subaru

Funny,
I own them both: 05 C2S and 04 WRX.
Total of 10 cylinders in Boxer configuration.
Both a great fun to drive.
Cheers.
Edit:
Here is an interesting link about similarities between P-car and Subbie:

The SPD Tuning site no longer exists, however.

That's interesting, because we buy Subies for the exact opposite reason. We've owned seven now and not one has ever let us down. I consider them very reliable...easily on par with more famous Japanese cousins (Honda and Toyota).

I currently own an '08 Impreza 5-door. I love it because it does all and gets me through winter without a hitch. My wife drives a smart, but is less enamored with it and wants another Subie. Most likely we'll sell / trader her smart for another Porsche and she'll drive the '08. If my next Porsche is not a four season car (a.k.a. Boxster or 996 C4) I'll probably buy a "cheap" Subie to supplement it.

FWIW Subies of Record:

2008 Impreza 5dr - 2003 Forester (Red-hers) - 2006 Impreza 5dr (hers) - 2005 Legacy - 2003 Forester (silver-hers) - 2000 2.5RS - 2002 WRX - 1995 Legacy Wagon

Traded my 2000 Legacy for a brand new '04 STi and loved it. Too much negative attention though so after three years I traded the STi in on the new Odyssey my wife didn't get when I bought the STi. :D

Living proof- Audi Q7 towing my 79 911T

Yep, we also own a fantastic Audi Q7 which I used to haul home my Christmas Gift the other day. The Audi is great-- lots of power, suprising breaks and you can't breat the quatro when going skiing.
