Any ideas on making some extra money?

Hi all,

As many of you know I work for the state of California and they have cut my paycheck 14%.

So I am looking for ways to make a few bucks to try to make up the difference.

I am considering getting a night job at Target, Home Depot, Guitar Center, etc. however because I am keeping my day job I’m not sure they will be flexible enough to allow me to work only a few nights a week.

So I am doing a little networking here to see if anyone has some creative ideas or leads to pick up some extra cash short of picking aluminum cans out of the garbage or standing on a freeway off ramp with a cardboard sign.

Thanks!

Don't think the G/F will go for that... she also vetoed gigolo and male exotic dancer.

I hear there is good money in dealing drugs but I'm too pretty to go to jail!

Get off the books! Cash is King. You pay your taxes and have your bennies..

Clean gutters, power wash houses/decks and remove A/Cs and clean up leaves.

(I hope these suggestions are relevant to San Pedro..)

Place an ad for anything on Craigslist.

The only replies you'll get are for making piles of cash.

I go to yard sales on Saturday morning and buy stuff. Then I resell it on eBay or Craig's list. Basically, I tag along after my wife while she buys school books and puzzles for her first graders. For instance, I bought a 32" Sharp TV for $40 the other day. Sold it for $100 the next day on Craigs list. I bought a Fluke multimeter for $50 and sold it on eBay for $176. I bought a Marhsall amp for $10 (it had a blown fuse, but the owner didn't know that) and sold it for $150. Those are typical kinds of scores.

I keep a spread sheet to see how much I make. It's typically about $500 a month after fees. So if I spend 4 hours on a Saturday morning, that's 16 hours a month, plus lets say another 10 hours in advertising and shipping time, that's about $20/hour. Not great, but it's fun anyway.

I know, I know, I'm pathetic, but it's pretty fun to find a quality item an flip it.

Why not reduce your "working hours" by 14% ? In cubical sabbatical.

You should be able to come up with something, especially in retail, with the holidays coming up.
If you like that sort of thing. Might be fun for a little while...
