Thanks, everyone!
Yes, it's been a while. Actually, I can't believe it's been almost twenty years since I found this forum. Time passes. We have two girls now; 6 and 18 months. The wife and I both put ourselves through grad school. I just finished in April and rewarded myself with a promotion to "stay-at-home dad" status. Livin' the dream... P.S. I still have that pool cue, Paul!

It's still a work in progress as I can't leave well enough alone. In March, I had it all back together and on the road with a freshly rebuilt 3FE fuel injected Landcruiser engine out of a FJ80.

Here's a shot of the not-so-cheap to rebuild 3FE:
![]() Unfortunately, I hated it. first generation fuel injection (pre-OBDI.OBDII) is a b*tch to trouble shoot, and the power and fuel economy really left me let down. So, obviously the only reasonable thing to do in this situation was to.... I'll leave this a dog thread but if there's interest I can re-ignite my old build thread with the current shenanigans.

I may spin this off into a separate diesel rebuild thread. I'm about 30% deep into the rebuild of the motor I bought for this truck. The more I think about it, I would actually like to solicit input and advice of the Pelican crew on several aspects of this project. I've been almost exclusively using the 'Mud forum but solely relying on one community can often result in an echo chamber effect and it may do very well to get some insight from very sharp car folks from a completely different forum. Land Cruisers and Porsches are so very different and so very similar in many respects; for starters, both are icons in their own right.
Anyway, earlier this year, I happened upon this gem while talking to the owner of a respectable 'cruiser shop in California. I originally wanted a diesel engine for this FJ40 but couldn't justify the cost. In the end, I decided it was the only thing that was going to make me happy so out came the wallet. 1997 Toyota HZJ75 (or what's left of it). It followed me home.
