I'm convinced that this will kill us all..
Despite what they claim.
It at least looks as though it should be able to kill us all even if it doesn't- most certainly the most amazing machine ever built: Large Hadron Collider ready to restart - The Big Picture - Boston.com Last time they switched it on, I had a countdown, augmented by a good amount of boozing. It was like 1:30AM my time. I stayed up with a bottle of scotch, just in case they hit that 1/10000000000 chance it destroyed space time. Turns out that test wasn't the full power test and therefore it wouldn't have been any different that any previous tests... but whatever, gave me a good chance to drink Scotch, which is all that really matters.

Schumi, I'm just a country carpenter. And I'm getting too old to worry about crap ending the world like that. Freaking dishwashers and Iphones are going to end the world first. And if you find someone or something tht gives your life meaning, well just angst and party until the feeling goes away.

Modern theoretical physics is full of more BS than the most radical religious sects out there. It rejects reason and is build around a primary fallacy treating "time" as some sort of "thing" rather than recognizing that time is an imaginary concept. In most cases, you would probably do better at gaining knowledge about the nature of the universe by talking with primitive "witch doctors" than you would by discussing the subject with modern theoretical physicists. |

LOL there's a scientard who is suggesting that someone from the future is traveling back in time and sabotaging the collider to keep it from destroying the earth.
Another is saying that nature is sabotaging the collider in a self-defensive move. ROFLMAO. OK, LOL if it destroys the earth where is the future guy coming from? How much of Schumi's scotch did the scientards drink? Were they smoking too or just drinking? |

Seeing those pictures I am amazed at the capabilities of human engineering. Simply amazing. Unbelievable.

Did you hear that they were planning on re-starting it on one day and they all went home. Turns out that the unit started ITSELF that evening and they were called back to the facility only to find it already running.
Guys, if the unit is able to start itself, then WTF else is it able to do? Am not real comfortable with it either...

why is most everything in nature, and science studying nature, based on circles?

You guys are slightly missing the point it was thinly trying the make:
The machine is ridiculously massive and mindblowingly amazing. It just fits that science-fiction vibe of the sorta machine that would destroy the planet. I mean, look at those pictures... something about all those detectors and wiring and such on that large of a scale looks menacing. Like the old pictures of scientists working on the Manhattan Project... only bigger.
