[QUOTE=vash;5061448]i love excavations!!! you never know what you will find.
i have found antique marbles, bottles, etc. in elpaso, texas we found an entire uniformed soldier buried with his rifle. effen awesome." Where I am in Virginia we mostly find arrow heads (by the truck load)...and the odd civil war buckle, etc...tons of civil war bullets though... We are generally small farm jobs so no work stoppages as a rule. This find was a while back and the operator did not say anything for a few months...I guess in this economy he did not want to get laid off for a month while VDHR investigated the site! So he kept his mouth shut about it! Most large jobs have to have an archeology study/report with shovel & sifting every few yards before work starts. What type of soldier did you find? I can't imagine doing excavation in Europe...those guys must find crazy stuff...

My ex-father-in-law was a bottle collector. He spent HOURS pouring over old maps, looking for old houses that were no longer there. His goal was to find the house dump and the series of house privy's. He only collected bottles which were old enough to have pontal marks.
I collected some bottles from antique shows, to use for beer brewing. In the process, they came with some "extra" bottles. Most were junk. One was worth something. I just let him have it. Might have been worth a couple of hundred. He had bottles in his collection worth tens of thousands. Very early, pre-1700, bottles in the USA.

The highest-priced "sold" tooth was $2250.00. It appears that, just like any other collectible, condition & size is everything. |

There may very well be more, sure could shut down the work site if you get the 'experts' involved...
