For some who didn't listen to the whole thing, Cuda 208 mph, Enzo 218 mph (& probably the hood didn't lift 3" either). A big engine doesn't make it as good (performance-wise) as the latest stuff, takes a lot of development...

It was never pushed to its mechanical limit... It came close to its aerodynamic limit... I bet much over 210 and that bad boy is a goner...

152mph @ 5,200 rpm on a 6,400 peak hp engine. I know that 200 takes a ton more hp. but the car was damn solid. I ran out of space to push faster. That was pulling up hill as well.

Math should be 187 mph with 6,400.

RPM was limited to 7k

Don't get me wrong I wouldn't turn down the Cuda... It needs a color change IMHO...

But if I was planning on north of 200... Well I'd rather have the Enzo

Unless you live close to a track and have special access how often will anyone get close to 200 ? For the most part it will be driven at less than 100 MPH 99.95 % of the time. Bottom line is both are great cars. For the money I would rather have a Porsche GT2. That will happen right after I invent my anti-gravity device.

Cost to build?

My Bro in Law drag races an 80's mustang with a 351 with a huge turbo. Methanol injection and megasquirt keeps the compression ratio at stock with pump gas. He is still dialing it in but believes that 1000hp at the crank is possible. His last 302 with a similar setup made 700hp at the crank before it broke. Total investment? Around $10,000. His labor is free in this equation.

This cuda could be made pretty cheaply when you compare to a Ferrari. It all depends on where they spent the $. I assume you could probably make the mechanical part using nascar stuff or similar and come in around $100k cost. That wouldn't include the pretty paint or a nice custom interior. Just my off the cuff guess.

Regardless. Wow. It looks like fun and sounds even better.

My guess is that about the only thing that looks original is the body and interior. I suspect it's been very beefed up to handle the extra forces. It looked like it had a fair amount of grip. I'm guessing it's braking and handling have been thoroughly updated to handle the 1000hp and 200+mph. It looks like it was pretty well made with attention to detail throughout. Still, yeah, I'm sure it wasn't anywhere near a million bucks.

I agree though, who the heck ever gets a chance to drive that fast. The cuda is pretty bad ass though.

This is a useless comparrison, come on a twin turbo big block against an N/A V12....apples to oranges.

Turbo civics drive to the track run a 10 sec quarter miles and then drive home..but why compare them to a Veyron or any exotic for that matter?

BTW Peter Klutt from LMC is the sorest loser at the track.

Alan Johnson built a 'Cuda similar to that with more of a lean towards aerodynamics. I know all of the front clip and rear diffuser is carbon fiber.

Don't forget that the windshield moulding had already flown off the Cuda in the middle of one run, and they had blocked off a bunch of the front end to try & prevent lift on the huge hood.

Like I wrote before, better overall engineering, not simply stuffing a big engine in an existing chassis.

The Cuda is in it's element cruising the highways and boulevards, where it would thoroughly destroy the Enzo.
We all know this. It's out of it's element on a top end run.

Still damned impressive performance though.

Very impressive, that is much more than simply a big motor stuffed into a stock Cuda. On that last pass it sounded like a jet.

I like it! The Cuda is pretty cool and probably affordable. I was at the dealership for a Challenger SRT8 with checkbook in pocket. The sales guy would NOT let me drive it or even start it, but they were very new then so I offered him full sticker price just because. He wasn't even barely interested as he said he had a buyer for almost twice that. I said you better sell it then. His reply was that I MIGHT be able to afford the V6 model when it comes out. I think I'll be getting something else now or at least NOT from them.....
