Yup. Possibly one of the most valuable "parts" of a car.

Yep, there is a guy in Gainesville Texas that can build you a 100 point concours car with that vin and a LOT of cash.

What a shame. If you look at the build sheet, it was one sweet car when it was new. We had a brand new '67 Mustang in the same color combo but ours was a 289/271hp w/ automatic and a regular hardtop.

Denis, your '67 with the K motor was a better car. BB in one of those '67s is a pig, had a friend with one, too nose heavy. I seem to remember you had to pull off the exhaust or drop the motor to change the plugs.

ehhh.... it's just a scratch, a little bondo and paint it will be good as new. ....but +1 on the vin plate being the most valuable part of that car. with the vin and title someone could build a replica and have it pass as a factory original to the untrained eye and make some good money.

Couple years ago there was an ebay of a 356 speedster that was just the bits with the vin held together with 2x4s so they were in the proper positions as if they were on a real car.

Back when I was in college I bought a 67 GTA that was a factory 390, but I replaced it with a 428CJ. It only took me 6 months to tear up the factory automatic transmission......God I miss that car!

Obviously a tremendous amount of surface rust, but I don't see any perforation... I bet you a chemical dip followed by etching epoxy primer/sealer would have us all singing a different tune.

No one wants a 390 Fastback. They made 113.647 of them. The 390 is just good as a boat anchor.

Take it to Germany and re-weld the vin into another. Completely legal. Worked for the "First 911".
