+1

He owes no one but his wife a explaination.

All the women that jumped up and said "Me Too!!" are looking for a payday

The difference between T and C is one is a golfer, beholden to absolutely no one other than the prurient, the other was an elected official who lied under oath.

I've never understood why Clinton agreed to answer some of the outrageously personal questions that were put to him.

I appreciate the difference, and the problem of an elected official lying under oath.

My point is that Clinton should never have been asked many of the questions he was asked. They were an impertinence. And he certainly shouldn't have answered them.

He should, in my view, just have refused to answer.

There are spheres of our lives that are private to each of us, and the fact that Clinton was elected doesn't change that.

Ditto for Tiger. I wish he'd show some cojones and just tell the media to feck off. But there's too much sponsorship money at stake I guess.

It does given the clearances and the whole commander in chief thing. He was required, by the strictures of his elected office, to live by many the same rules I had to: moral clauses, financial disclosures, don't f the help, no dope smoking, etc...he left the privacy of the private sector behind when was elected. It is an argument best left to two glasses of scotch.

Agreed, with one caveat: There is no such thing as bad press in the long run...what a priceless reach for Nike.

You're on. But given the subject it should be scotch and cigars.

Sorry, but he was already being investigated for sexual harassment, among other things.....
The History Place - Impeachment: Bill Clinton
Quote:
Paula Jones/President Bill Clinton

Staying in the realm of the government, President Clinton himself came under fire for alleged sexual harassment. Paula Jones was a state employee when Clinton was Governor of Arkansas. In 1991, she claimed that Clinton exposed himself and asked her for oral sex in a hotel room. Clinton denied all allegations.

After several rounds of filing, Jones's lawsuit was dismissed for failing to state a claim. During the appeals process, a settlement was reached. Jones dropped her suit against Clinton in exchange for $850,000. However, she never received an admission of guilt or an apology.

Jones's allegations paved the way for investigating the President's sex life. The Monica Lewinsky scandal and the impeachment of President Clinton were big follow-ups to the Paula Jones case.

Probably the best take I've seen on it: Bill Simmons on the Tiger Woods speech - ESPN

A few tidbits:

"Everything about it seemed staged. Everything. When the main camera broke down at the nine-minute mark and Tiger had to be shown from the side, I half-expected to see that he was plugged in to the wall."

"Whatever. I was going to leave it alone. After all, that had to have been a humiliating experience for the guy. But listening to talking heads praise that ludicrous speech pushed me over the edge. Someone actually said, "It came from the heart." It did? Was it C3PO's heart? I thought it seemed like an automated response from Microsoft's new "Cheater's Confession" program."

"He spoke for the next 13 and a half minutes. He spoke … like this. There was … no emotion … in his words. His face … was blank … and empty. Part of me … felt bad … for him. There were … a couple of moments … when it seemed … like … he was trying … to shed a tear … or have his voice catch … just for effect. You get … the idea."

"He came off like Schwarzenegger in "Terminator 2.""

All good stuff. Personally I could care less, the guy is a freaking GOLFER. Who he bangs, other than being amusing, has no effect on my life. But considering this joke of an apology, he would have been better off in hiding.

Tiger is far too big of a sell out to do that.

Honestly, he should have kept quiet and returned to the golf course to do the job the public expects of him.
Cast the first stone dude.

The man used the word cheat. Do you have any idea how difficult that was for him? He had the BALLS to say cheat. The whole speech, do you have any friggin' idea????

Tiger Woods makes me wish the internets were never born. I don't read newspapers or watch TV, but somehow I still trip across this crap on the internet.

It sometimes seems the guys who defend cheaters are cheaters themselves. So how 'bout it Terrier? Been going out on Mrs. Terrier?

I'm not defending him what so ever. Just saying someone that is so arrogant having to show humility is difficult at best.
And my personal life is none of your business.

Ya know Tiger is a pretty smart guy... and he is surrounded by smart people (agents, lawyers. etc.)

I'm sure they all knew the best thing to do would to be keep silent and the whole thing would pass.

Obviously Tiger felt the need to apologize publicly... for whatever reason.

And yeah the speech was staged (duh) he is a golfer not a politician... he is not expected to give speeches.
