My apologies to you sir. All I ever said was there is a more appropriate place for your advertising. ;)

Well OK then, I'm sorry I called you Nancy Pelosi. No one should have to bear such a terrible thing. :)

holy cripes you guys are ninnies. One of the best things about these forums is seeing what people do for a living.

Were you offended when:
- Tim Hancock built something cool and posted about it?
- Widebody911 designed and sold carbon fiber 911 cab hardtops?
- CJFusco posts about his books?
- MB911 fabricated and sold stainless exhaust for 911s?
- Trekkor posts pictures of a tiling job?
- A Quiet Boom made a fixture for drilling out exhaust studs?
- Speeder posted pictures of finish and trim work he did on a historic home?

There are people on this forum who do amazing things for a living or as a sideline. If that bothers you, maybe you should try to figure out why.

Okay, one more question, how can you generate so much sand in vaginas with just a few posts? If only you would use your powers for good, rather than evil...

I take exception to sand in vaginas. I got my first BJ because of that. :D
(actually it was sand on my penis, shhhhh...)

I speak to Shaun a few time s a year. Have for a few years now. Enjoy every conversation. He's a really good guy. Busts his ass for "The American Dream". G9, ehh. did not work out so what does Shaun do? He busts out Little Traveller. My kids have some of his product and I'm ashamed to say it's never cost me a dime. Some day's stuff just shows up.

His posts can be perceived as promoting his business but if any of you had a clue what went into making a living in his line of work you'd understand that a dozen posts a year here in OT won't generate enough revenue for a weeks worth of COG's.

You may not agree with his politics or posts but he's a good guy. I've seen evidence of his unsolicited generosity and compassion.

I consider him a friend and hope he feels the same about me.

Buckterrier 03-13-2010 04:44 PM

Well Said stomachmonkey...
Shaun has been to my home. I've been to his place of business. He also has sent his product to a friend of mine no charge, (a female major in the Army), because I had a t-shirt she liked and I told him she liked it. He wouldn't let me pay for it. (You'd actually like it Snipe, "Don't Tread On Me" ).

Some of us are pacifists. Some of us are more aggressive. Neither is right neither is wrong. People can't help their nature.
It is interesting what this thread has become. And as all the others, (except the boobie thread :D ) it will eventually die.

If this is indeed such: Perhaps the most childish and ineffective attempt i have ever seen at an insult.

99% of the population wishes they could doodle a dragon like that in 15 minutes while half asleep. Frankly the dragon i drew is far too elaborate for a Tee-shirt print anyway.

LOL....

Carrerax 03-14-2010 03:40 AM

I would also like to chime and say that I have also received packages from Shaun containing a few shirts etc for my kids. He has never asked for payment nor would he accept payment when I pushed the issue. Hell, he knew I was looking for rear seat belt parts and one day a box showed up with a bunch of the parts I needed. Anyway, the world needs more people like this. He is building a company along with karma points along the way. When my daughters come downstairs with the "speedster" shirts Shaun sent them and they want to wear them because they know how happy it makes me,,,that is priceless.

I just read this entire thread and I have one question. Where is the required pic of the temp? I mean it is obvious that the BF isn't gonna come back. Just sayin'

m21sniper 03-14-2010 08:05 AM

Not even a pic. This thread was a fail in so many ways. :D

Heel n Toe 03-14-2010 12:32 PM

Shaun, did you keep the temp?

Has her work performance suffered or gotten better?

Does she talk about the BF at all?

John, the police advised me not to keep her and she has not contacted me since then. I do worry about her. After she burst into tears that time she confided that he's very controlling. She said that she doesn't have anywhere to go and since she has a dog, can't just leave him. I had never experienced anything like that in any work environment. I never saw any signs of physical abuse, but there were certainly signs of mental. He does not work. His demanding her work hours, and therefore how much she's been paid, only a guess, but I think she was hiding her pay from him and that's why he came over that morning. Another temp, 2 weeks earlier had said she's working 3 odd jobs.

Shaun @ Tru6 03-14-2010 01:00 PM

Thank you Gentlemen, it really gladdens my heart to make a small, positive impact in the lives of good friends around me. There's a real joy in giving that is so much more precious and rewarding than paid invoices. Thank you.

Your dragon would take under an hour to go from computer to 30 printed shirts using decades old silkscreen techniques.

On a poly shirt, I could dye sub it in 2 minutes.

on any light colored shirt, I could use water-based direct to garment printing in 20 seconds.

From a printing technical perspective, there is nothing elaborate about your drawing. You could bring your sketch down to any local shop and have it done for $3.50 + cost of a shirt.

Shaun @ Tru6 03-14-2010 01:13 PM

Well said Jake. People sharing their challenges and accomplishments is what makes OT great.

LOL, my tastes run a little, ummmm, more, uhhhh, sophisticated. But I do love dragons, and so do the customers of my stores. These sold out fast last year. The HPLV hand-bleaching on the black was a big hit. That dragon took 2 days to get right, well worth it.

You cannot capture subtle shading with silk screening. Just look at your dragon: Opaque. (and it took 2 days to "get it right?" that's a 5 minute sketch) So a single color unshaded opaque outline takes you 2 days to get right...but you could get a elaborate multi shaded decal made for $3.50?

Come on mr. expert...

You'd have to either have a custom decal made, or get it airbrushed. $3.50 indeed. LOL.

Making T-shirts is such a demanding business that 16yo's do it every day on the boardwalk without adult supervision. LOL. Definitely something to be proud of!

BUT HONESTLY: I DO NOT WISH TO QUIBBLE OVER DOODLES AND T-SHIRTS. It's beneath me.

Bill, you clearly don't know anything about silk screen or the process involved. Silk screen captures very subtle shading easily. Both dye sublimation and direct to garment prints at 300 dpi, which is what magazines are printed at. From a technical perspective, printing your dragon is very easy, especially being one color. Why would you make an authoritative statement that is so easy to prove wrong? You have just proven that don't know anything about silk screen printing but you are passing yourself off as an expert. Why?

The shading on this GT40 was significantly more subtle than your dragon.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1268608178.jpg

The shading on the bats, ball, glove... were all much more subtle than your dragon. In person, you can see the detail of the wood grain on the bat...easily.
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1268608286.jpg

With close-up, macro view pics, it would be even easier to see. Please don't make authoritative statements that are so easy to prove wrong. or do you enjoy getting smacked down time and again? or maybe you are performance art personified. I don't know, but spreading lies and false information based on ignorance is just not cool.

And I won't even go into 4 color process screen printing which prints photo-quality art.

GWN7 03-14-2010 05:15 PM

Somewhere around here I have a poster that was made with the 4 colour separation process Shaun mentioned. It was made using a fixed slide photo of a fountain at the Louvre in Paris. Printed on photo quality paper. If it was framed you would think it was painted.

If it prints at 300 dpi it prints at twice the resolution of a magazine. Most mags use a 130 line screen, good ones use 150 lines, REALLY good ones print at 175.

m21sniper 03-14-2010 06:14 PM

I haven't done a silk screen since about 1986 in Junior High art class.

I am sure the technology has progressed, but it was not exactly rocket science.

Anyway, your dragon shirt is cool (but no more than an opaque solid filled outline). Some of your shirts are cool. Can we all sing Kum By Yah now?

LOL....why dont you brag some more about the people you killed in Vietnam. Because you know, you're our hero.

Shaun gets a lot of negative comments from a lot of posters (I count 5 separate posters in this thread alone) because of previous performance. Of course wdfiftoon has no idea about that. Still doesn't stop him from running the mouth out of ignorance. :)

Care to back up the bullshyte coming out of your mouth by citing where I ever said I killed anybody in Viet Nam - or anyplace else?

Nasty little low-life tactic you're employing here, making stuff like that up, no? Indicates poor character.

You've babbled several times (i've seen you do it at least twice) in PARF about having killed people in Vietnam. Anyone interested enough to do a forum search is more than welcome. I believe your quote was, "Ever killed anyone? Because i have...."

But sorry, i'm all out of troll food.

OMG! Must be almost Spring? Too many cabin fever keyboard warriors fwiw.

I just read the posts I left behind at about page 6 or so, ha, ha; incredible coverage and great for a laugh. So a few things,

1. I agree with speeder's posts, the guy has it knocked down to a T and once again proves my theory about taking advise from those that DO and have DONE rather than those that just pose to do and have never done. Thanks Denis, if we lived closer we'd be peeps bud.

2. My momma taught me right; if you're gonna flog your chocolate bar in front of your friends, then you'd better have enough to share with everyone. Shaun should really be giving us ALL free T-shirts, this imo would redeem his actions.

As for the keyboard warriors, don't say something on BBS that you wouldn't say to the persons face, and I can guarantee you that most people would never have the guts to say something to my face :) There's one particular poser I have in mind for this comment, I'm Irish and I'm waiting to give 'em the chance one day. Hee Hee.
