I completely agree with your last post Speeder.

Gotta remember that this is the liberal state of MA, where we have the likes of Kerry, Barney Frank, and Kennedy ruling the nest. Defending yourself is not allowed.

He is a tough-talking wise-ass, but with no intent to back it up if necessary...and in this case, disrespected the fellow in front of his girl. The fellow knew that Shaun was not the kind of fellow that would be able to put up much of a fight...or have the intestinal fortitude to do so. The fellow returned the disrespect and gave Shaun every opportunity to take a swing...which would have given him an excuse to beat the crap out of Shaun and redeem himsef in front of his girl. Instead, Shaun came off as a wuss and the guy feels that he showed his girl that he may not have a job...but he is the more manly of the men in her life. Although this is not always the most effective way to impress a girl...it is all the guy had at the time...and likely made him feel better. Shaun's calling the cops on him likely further helped make his case regarding Shaun's masculinity.

Snipe is wrong as well. This was Shaun's place of business. Don't crap in your own nest...especially when the only witness is sleeping with your antagonist (unless she likes you better). Let him go...but be ready to run into him again somewhere else and kick his butt. Get the RO, it is a good strategy...because then after you pound him...he goes to jail, win or lose.

Lots of wisdom in the above...

Handled it all wrong.

Should have said, "I don't want any trouble, I'll pay you $500 to leave. Will you take a check . . . "

What's the latest on this, Shaun? Did you let the woman go or keep her? Any boyfriend sightings?

Kinda strange and... Makes you wonder if things have gone down the tubes since then, doesn't it?

The show was awesome! Every spring customer came back for more, very happy with how spring is selling, picked up several new accounts and a major showed strong interest, need to follow-up with a private presentation in NYC.

Economy seems to be strong for this sector based solely on reorders for current stock (shipped in early Feb.) and depth of orders for fall.

thanks everyone for the support, I really appreciate it!

no show pics, forgot the camera in my haste to get down there, but here was one of the big sellers. I don't anticipate shopping for a new 997 GT3 any time soon, but maybe next year. :D

Hahaha amazing how this whole thread boiled down to a sales pitch/product hawking event.

TSNAPCRACKLEPOP 03-12-2010 08:37 AM

I read 4 pages of this thread. Recently had a similar situation.

I was at a friends house on a busy street. Leaving, backing out of the drive, I decided to leave by using the adjoining drive way of the next door abandoned house, stopped at the road, and turned right.

Door unlocked, window raised.

Next light, a small gray car swoops in front of me as I stop for the next stop light. Guy jumps out, (I realize that this is the neighbor who lives in the next house past the circle drive, about 225 lbs, 6 foot, at least 15 years younger than me. ). dashes up to the left front and drivers area of my box van, and starts with threatening fistical motions, stating that if I do not keep off the property, he will shove all my teeth down my throat, continusly yelling "stay off the property(not his, the abandoned one between my friends and his rental house.).

Never touched the truck, just a lot of dancing around.

Brought to mind the saying in that Clint Eastwood movie (goodbadugly?),

"If you"re going to shoot....SHOOT!"

Finally gets in his car, does a u turn, and is gone home.

We had a similar case where an older couple, in 60-70 age range, wasted an attacker in North Kansas City who approached them in a threatening manner. No charges filed.

PS I am a redneck, and I would not be able to afford supporting a crippled person and continue my lifestyle.

Exactly... people took their time to give him their best advice on his problem... I'm sure many are curious as to what he decided to do about the woman and if the boyfriend has made any more waves, but zip, nada on that.

The shirts look great.

(In his defense, maybe his lawyer told him to keep mum on it.)

lisa_spyder 03-12-2010 01:02 PM

Shaun,

Shirts are gorgeous! What size range are you doing in these? My 'littlest man' is a monster of a 10yo - in your terms he's built like a quarterback :D. How large do you go in these cos he'd love some....pm or email me when you can please with details.

Cheers,

Lisa

lisa_spyder 03-12-2010 01:13 PM

Oh yeah...I agree with the guys on this - I'm not suckered that easily....(I do love the shirts though)

What the hell happened Shaun??? Enquiring minds want to know....

What happened? Nothing, just as it should be. There is nothing to report, no drama, no soap opera, nothing. Police took care of it. Again, I appreciate all the advice and good cheer on this issue. I did the right thing (thanks to all here) and I've moved on.

Met a cool fellow from Australia by the way, got to get down your way someday.:)

PM sent.

There is a place on this site to sell T shirts(Porsche Collectables - Pelican Parts Technical BBS) and PPOT is not it. Devious.

scottmandue 03-12-2010 02:38 PM

Oh you boys...

Shaun makes a simple post about getting in a yelling match with the boyfriend of a temp worker...

You guys blow everything out of proportion...

Then you get your panties in a wad when he doesn't cater to your whims.

:p

Tim Hancock 03-12-2010 04:22 PM

I don't think Shaun is trying to sell t-shirts here. LOL

Hell, he has probably given more of them away to us fellow Pelicans as gifts than he would ever hope to sell to us. Last I checked this is an off topic forum and one can post whatever one wants.

PS Shaun, I like the MX shirt.

The first punch disorients them, and as long as you don't stop, they are defenseless. You don't want to be in this position. Thanks Tim, you have it exactly right. In fact I've never sold LT on Pelican but really enjoy giving gifts, to a heck of a lot of folks by now. it's really rewarding.

I see now that my irrational exuberance and pride in building my company and showing some of my favorite designs, of which I am particularly proud, can be taken as a negative by some, which never really crossed my mind. I just wanted to share some good news.

I'm sorry, let me make this a little clearer for you: I only sell to retailers, online and Main Street small stores. I don't sell to the public. I give gifts to Pelican friends and donate to those in need.

When I run men's shirts for the Pelican audience, a thread is dedicated to their sale:

I think shaun is constantly trying to sell t-shirts here, actually. (afterall we comp products to get them out there to be seen. Even "gifts" are sales promotions/free advertising...)

But i guess that's the life of a t-shirt baron.

One of my favorite things about PPOT is when people post about their latest projects... whether it's on the cars, houses, at work or otherwise. It's fascinating to see what hard work and enthusiasm can produce. Shaun posts about his work because he's passionate about it, and it shows in the final product.

Notice how people reply to his threads and give kudos? That's because we're enthusiastic too... much like when someone posts about a recent renovation on their house, or a car project.

One thing I've noticed over the years: it's a certain type of person who sits back and makes snide comments when someone else has accomplished something.

Explain yourself. Why is Wayne wrong in having me post here in OT and Classifieds? Why do you want to disallow folks who love a good Porsche-inspired shirt the chance to get one?

Thanks Jake, most folks notice your points as well. These guys are just bored and have nothing else going on. Hard to blame them for manufacturing a little drama to spice up their lives. I can only guess that without the drama they create in OT, here 24/7, they'd have little else.

Another thing to notice is those that create the drama don't really have any threads to show their accomplishments. Kinda sad really.

Anyway, thanks for the good words, hope you are well.

Shaun @ Tru6 03-13-2010 11:06 AM

Well, you know, I do have a confession to make. Remember this thread here:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/off-topic-discussions/516681-whats-dinner-thai-inspired-crab-cakes.html

I moved 30 gross of fresh Maryland jumbo lump crab meat after posting that dinner and turned on a friend who sold 200 cases of Sriracha to Guam.

LOL!:D

Can't quite figure out why you give a d@mn about Shaun's clothing business either way. I suppose if he was in the business of making HK dovetail mounted laser sights you would probably not have a problem if he posted a picture or two of them. ;):D

As Jake said so well, OT is a great place for everyone to post their accomplishments. Why sniper thinks I sell things here is beyond me, other than he needs the manufactured narrative. Without it he doesn't have any drama, and everyone on this board knows just how well he needs his drama.

Several people have commented about your Gorilla sales tactics in this thread. It's not like it's just me or BLEW.

My accomplishment is starting and successfully running a manufacturing company during an economic decline. I'm really proud of that. I used to think that making a basic t-shirt was easy. It's not. Corduroy pants...rocket science, really. I'm sorry that when I post pics of my shirts (you've got to see the cords, cargo's and jeans someday...the vintage leather motorcycle racing jacket is awesome as well) you think I'm trying to sell them. It isn't. it is because a lot of folks here enjoy seeing and sharing in that success and are happy for me. Just as I am happy for anyone here with similar, or completely different, but real accomplishments.

Again, I don't sell anything here.

I don't list the stores I am in.

I don't list the online retailers that carry me.

I don't list prices.

I don't do anything that would lead anyone to believe that I am selling my clothing here. I even use LT for short much of the time.

When someone wants to know more about the clothing, I send them a linesheet (wholesale catalog without prices), ask about size, what they like, and then send them a package gratis. I really enjoy that part of the company, my life goal being the creation of an altruistically-based for-profit company (long story in and of itself) and while LT isn't that company, little things like clothes to sick kids and just kids in general are part of my plan. I like doing something both unexpected and nice. I really enjoy hearing back from them on how much their kid(s) like the clothing. And I like to get new ideas and feedback from them in general. it's a win for everyone.

Bill, I don't know why you would make something up and create an entire story around me selling my company's clothing here. it just isn't true. You've been able to thoroughly express your viewpoint on what I should and should not have done given the situation. We all got that. But please don't manufacturer drama and fiction about me that aren't true.

I am very proud of the company I have built. I'm sorry if my demonstrating that irks you.

I think we can put this to bed right now. I did the right thing with great advice here. The cops clearly did the right thing and put the fear of God into this fellow. there is no follow-up, no drama, no story, no nothing.

And that my friends is how I know the advice given was excellent. The drama ended. I think if I hadn't called the police, there would be ongoing trouble. So again, and I can't believe I suckered into this dramafest (feels like an episode of Glee), thank you all for the great advice, and thank you for the support and good cheer.
