Yeah, me too. $85.00, that's crazy.
I'm probably going to buy the universal wood panels at that site i just linked to, for now. They're only $4 i think. I'm going to mirror polish some of the little bits and controls on my LCP (mag release, take down pin, slide catch lever and barrel hood), but i need to get some good polish first. All i have on hand is Turtle Wax chrome polish, which is mediocre at best. I need to get some more Flitz. The designer grips come in teak, burl, and carbon fiber. I really like the burl. I was using my Dremel and the little bit of polish it came with that i had left (all gone now) last night and i got decent results on the take down pin. The TW Chrome polish is a waste of time though. I've had great results with flitz in the past.

My P239 has similar grips. Previous owner used a solder gun on the stock grips and made them a lot more coarse. Worked very well.

How about one of these for a first pistol?

Here's one that UCONN Tim might be interested in, since he just became (or is about to become) the latest member of the Pelican LCP club...
![]() 15rd LCP magazine. Hehe... (generally pro mags are crap, but i actually read a couple good reviews on the LCP mags) http://www.promagindustries.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=RUG-A21 Also, a +1 magazine extension for the factory mags, from Impact guns: ![]() http://www.impactguns.com/store/media/LCP_EXT/LCP_EXT_1.jpg I would strongly recommend an over strength Wolff mag spring if using a +1 extension. There was a +2 magazine extension for the factory mags on the market for a while, but Pearce stopped selling them, apparently they were junk. Last edited by m21sniper; 04-21-2010 at 09:01 PM.. |

Finally got around to taking some pix of mine:
![]() ![]() I polished the barrel crown up too, i like a silver muzzle. They look bigger IMO. Even in the land of pocket pistols, Psyops can come into play.

These LCP's are starting to get my attention, but I want to shoot one first. Aim is selling them for $279 now. I could pick up a few and stash them around the house and cars as grab guns.

I HIGHLY recommend the Crimson Trace laser. Our own On2wheels52 can get them for a great price. ![]() The CT laser totally transforms the capability of the spoon, particularly for people without a lot of shooting experience. It is also a magnificent training aid for learning your trigger pull with dry fire practice. I love mine. Great trigger pull, and with the ruger curved baseplate it feels really nice, even with a 2 finger hold. I'm sure with the +1 kit it feels even better. The Crimson Trace is definitely in my future, but I want to get a good feel for the gun first before I add anything to it.
We will have to get to the range soon.

When do you want to go? My doctor lady friend has been bugging me to go as well. Ever seen a female Ivy league physicist dual wield Heckler and Koch 9mm's?
(she's ambidextrous)Quote:
In .380 ballistics gel testing the Cor Bon DPX widely outperforms all other .380 loads i've seen tested against it, and even outperforms many .38spl, 9mm, and even .357 magnum loadings. It's insane the numbers the DPX achieves, but in 2 separate gel tests that i've seen it has been at the very top of the heap in .380. Avg expansion is .645" with only .02" avg deviation, and average penetration is 10.9", more than enough vs a large build man on any kind of frontal or quartering shot. The six cutting petals of the DPX should also ensure a very destructive wound channel. The Cor Bon DPX uses the solid copper Barnes hollowpoint bullet, and maintains 100% of it's weight, even through glass. In .380, at this time based on all the tests i've seen, there is nothing else close. You can see here, when compared to a variety of proven lead hollowpoints, that the DPX is going to create a more traumatic wound:

One of the reasons why i carry on so much about my HK P7....
Even 30 years later no one has managed to make a 9mm subcompact that is significantly smaller: ![]() The P7 is shorter, thinner, and with both pistols having an 8rd mag installed (the pictured PPS has a 7rd mag) the P7 is no taller than the PPS either. Being polymer, the PPS is of course a lot lighter..which has pluses and minuses. The P7 is a very, very light recoiling 9mm to begin with because of it's ergonomics, but it's all steel construction helps to deaden the recoil even more. The P7 is also smaller in all 3 dimensions than the Walther PK-380 that Sidney is fond of as well. (again, the PK-380 is much lighter) No one has ever made a service pistol of any size that is more accurate: ![]() Group shot at 10m with full power Cor Bon 115gr Sierra +P+ ammunition. The P7 is a true masterpiece of design. I'd give my left nut for one with a titanium frame and integrated dust cover rail. My LCP has replaced my P7 as my carry gun, so the P7 is now the nightstand gun. In that vein i've installed a Laserlyte red universal laser system. Not much to look at, but it's dead on accurate at 5 meters, and very bright: ![]() ![]() It's a temporary fix because I think i'm going to buy one of these and have it installed (1911/M9 dust cover screw on picatinny rail), and go with a green laser: ![]() I believe that would make me the only rail equipped P7 owner around, to go with being the only HUD equipped P7 around. ![]() Have i mentioned what a GREAT job our own Targa911S did on my Karl Nill wood grips? ![]() ![]() For my money, with those grips and the polish job i did on the factory finish, my P7 is one of the most beautiful side-spoons i have ever seen. PS: Yet another Pelican is about to pull the trigger on a P7. ![]() PSS: Grade A P7's w/2 mags, plastic box and all tools for $740. This is an awesome price: ![]() http://hkpro.com/forum/showthread.php?121019-WTS-P7-s-Grade-A-Used Last edited by m21sniper; 04-24-2010 at 01:31 AM.. |

Snipe... I will probably carry PPS when I get my ccw.... Simply b/c I can get it in 9mm or .40sw I do love me a PK380 tho. I was drooling on one the other day for a scant $389. I do love your P7 but I would have a hard time carrying a spoon that nice. In reality I will probably end up with an LCP b/c it will fit best in the pocket of dress slacks(got to be able to dispatch disgruntled druggies that I won't sell needles too)....

I believe on2wheels52 said he can get them for under $150. The CT is pressure activated, and is IMO head and shoulders above any other laser system i've used. Having that activation switch right under your middle finger makes it totally instinctive and totally eliminates the chance of "missing" the on switch in a stressful situation. It also allows you to turn the laser on only, and precisely when you want to turn it on- this minimizes the chance of it giving away your position.
Drop him a PM, i'm sure he'd be happy to hook you up. Quote:
There are many other bigger and badder guns, but none that i can carry with me where-ever i go. If i NEED a bigger gun, i've got my P7. Last edited by m21sniper; 04-25-2010 at 11:56 AM.. |
