Arizona is about to be the 3rd state to allow CCW with no permit

Ariz. House approves concealed weapons bill - Yahoo! News

This should be interesting. Maybe since anybody could be carrying everyone will be nicer to each other (?).

Finally! We will no longer have classes of gun owners. We never needed a permit to open carry anyway. Now I can leave my gun in the car with my wife and not worry about her getting into trouble. Still, I'll renew my permit every five years for the reciprocity feature.

you guys have failed to read this.

without an azccw permit and training it aint reciprocal to other states.

you cant just buy a gun or guns and split that moment(ie. brady bill)

azccw classes will still continue. the fbi background check will continue.

and now we have a BUNCH OF STOOPID MORONS WITH NO TRAINING CARRYING CONCEALED!

yeah that makes sense.

if you think yer avoiding training and the cost of a permit............well ya just aint getting the same package as with an azccw permit.

hahahahaha.

Pa requires no training whatsoever for a CCW permit. So far as i can tell, it has not caused a single problem here.

Poor people cannot afford training, so unless it's state provided, IMO it is an unfair burden to place on the poor- those who arguably have the greatest need for arms to begin with.

Why? Poor people don't have anything for others to steal.

Why do you need a reason to carry a weapon? Being a citizen and not a subject seems good enough.

The other bill declares that guns manufactured entirely in Arizona are exempt from federal oversight and are not subject to federal laws restricting the sale of firearms or requiring them to be registered.
Now that's pretty cool.

So, untrained people. No background checks. All carrying handguns.
This is a good thing?
With all due respect,
This is sick. On many levels.

We should introduce voter training. Untrained people should not decide who gets to rule.

Unlikely to survive court challenge.

This is the West my friend, not Boston or Sacremento. There are places that are not civilized and prim and proper that everyone has to deal with.

When I am at my weekend place if I step out of the door and head to the car, in the summer there is a very good chance that there will be a rattlesnake somewhere within 10 feet. We usually deal with it using a shovel or hoe, but there are a lot of times where it would be nice to have a "hog leg" strapped on our hip.

You may not need one in your nice big city environment, but we are a different world out here. You do as you want, and we will do what we NEED to do to preserve our way of life. Our legislators voted as the public asked and we now can do this.

Really, did they overturn the same law in Montana?

Where did you get the idea that "all" people here will carry handguns because they no longer need a permit? Did you see the part about only 154k people having permits? I think we have around 6 million people. Obviously, if "all" wanted to carry without a permit, this law would have passed long ago.

And why do you assume no background checks? You still have to go through the NICS check to buy a handgun in a store if you don't have a CCW. I'm a lot more worried about people driving cars while using cell phones, which I see every day, and there's no background check for that. Hell, it's not even illegal.

Man, if my understanding of guns and the law were as out of touch with reality as yours, I might be an anti too.

Since it was only signed into law on Oct 09, it is too early. Has it even been challenged yet? Has any company even set up shop manufacturing and selling firearms in Montana?

Why? Because the raw materials in the gun's parts weren't all mined from AZ soil? One of the workers in the factory was born in TX and once lived in CA? If this becomes the new standard for what does and doesn't constitute interstate commerce, then there really is zero limit on federal power. I imagine individuals not living in the same state in which they were born will soon have no more rights under state laws, since they at one time crossed a state line, and so will be subject to new federal laws on the matter.

Still, it's gonna take someone with brass balls and deep pockets who wants to be the first test case. The feds don't like seeing their illegal behavior challenged by the sheeple.

Well, Joe. I am a hell of a lot more "west" than you are. On the Pacific Ocean.
I do believe most crimes are committed in a "nice big city environment". Correct?
You want to shoot rattlers?
