There's also the adoption option. Plenty of kids born into lousy situations that could benefit from a loving home. I can think of few greater acts of altruism.

Thanks guys, plenty of good opinions here. My personal opinion is early 40s is probably the cut off. I am not planning on kids anytime soon, but I am in two monogomous relationships. Both are in early 20s and want kids.

I really have two issues; age and money.

I dont want to be in diapers at my kids HS graduation. Plus I want to be active and help with sports, cars, etc..

I have enough money to quit work and coast the rest of my life. Big difference going to work knowing i dont need the job. Just less stressful. If I have kids, I need to work for them. ANd they could turn out really bad, making me regret giving up my early retirement.

I dont think kids are in my future.

Thanks for all the opinions.

I My wife had our daughter 9 months ago, I am 43. I don't have any problems keeping up with her and don't foresee any problems. My wife's parents are still very active and my mom is as well. I recently lost my dad at 72.
How can you be in "two" "monogamous" relationships?

I was 45 when my little guy arrived on the scene.
Trade security and stability for youth and energy.
Could you call that a push?
I wouldn't trade it for the world. It is (usually) great being a dad.

I am going to push out the edge a bit here.
I am 61yo and have one son 12yo and one 8yo.
It does seem a bit strange sometimes at the elementary school get togethers, and I have gotten used to comments about my grandsons. HA

But I was no way ready earlier in my life. Too busy surfing and windsurfing etc.
Am much more able to let go of my own interests now and focus on the family.
certainly less energy now, but more patients and maturity in dealing with the chalenges.

We are all different and have to chose what works for ourselves.
The future will be what it is.
My boys are happy. And I am happy with them in my life!!

Cheers Richard
