Truckee/Tahoe
Anybody near here? Been stuck here for a few days with mx on the bird and need suggestions on things to see/do. I have already driven around the lake 2-3 times, been up to Mt Rose, down into Reno, then took I-80 back to Truckee, been to Emerald Point and Eagle Falls, took the gondola up to Heavenly, Squaw Valley and Northstar. Seen Donner Pass, etc... Wanted to do the Rubicon Trail, but its not open yet. Still too much snow.. crazy!!
But WOW, this place is simply beautiful this time of year... |

Haven't been since it was in Sparks and Bill Harrah owned it, but the National Automobile Museum in Reno looks fun:

I think you can find hookers and blow in South L Tahoe.
I was bored there in 2 days. But, then again, I was with my wife. It was cool to eat at the CalNeva Lodge where Sinatra and company held court. It was still open 5 years ago and pretty much the way it was in the 60's. |

Another fun thing to do is rent a bike at the base of Squaw and ride into Tahoe City on the Truckee River bike trail. Its fun watching the rafters come down the river, but it might be a little early in the year for them. Sunnyside is a nice place on the lake to have lunch at.

Jsut got back to the hotel.. Went over to Virginia City as some suggested. Was pretty cool. We got there too late to take the mine tour, but the town has some remarkable history..
Plus, man there are some AWESOME twisty roads around here.! Saw many P cars carving around. Todd, tomorrow is go home day. Flying out of Reno in the morning. Next time, Ill post this earlier in my stay!

Seems to me there was a Ferrari hill climb course over by Virginia City.
Cal Neva may be closed, hopefully they did not paint over Mr Sinatra's name, over to the far left facing the front of the casino. Legend has it, Mr Sinatra took a poke at Sam Giancana right over by his car. If it is open, do the tunnel tour. Nice hiking trails above Emerald Bay, probably too much snow now. Dinner at the Summit Room, though they don't call it that anymore, at Harrah's as I recall. Restaurant at the top facing the sunset over the lake. If you go up Mt Rose Hwy, there is a little turn out on the right that has a great view.
