But can I at least get an attaboy from you guys? I've worked my ass off on this yard, have re-sodded twice now and its really starting to look great. Zoysia Emerald. I keep filling in the low spots with sand and use a reel mower with a front roller.

I can appreciate how much work you've put in Mark as I take care of my own lawn too. I used to be proud of how nice and green it was during the winter. Now, with water conservation and all, I'm just happy to keep the leaves picked up as it only sees water when I put the daily driver on the lawn to wash it.

It looks really nice! I have a great appreciation for things such as you have taken on. I'd love to bring my wedge over.

I caught the golf bug at 9, so naturally by 11 I was growing a green in my parent's yard.

It was an area about 3 x 17 yards. Two trees were lost (ash, one a few years before the other) so the area was bare and needed something, and I was the family lawn boy by default. I'm the youngest.

This was a low budget operation. Fertilizer might have been the only thing bought. The river provided enough silt to form a base. I transplanted the neighbors tif 328 edgings, a few plugs, and it was off to the races. It took several years to cover, but while in the process, I added a second tier and a bunker. I used rail road ties, ala Pete Dye style, to form the face of the bunker. The "Brown" (that was the green's nickname) only got direct morning-midday sun for 4 hours a day at the most, throughout the year.

The fist cut was made with scissors, then moving on to a weed eater, and finally the neighbor's reel mower. It was puttable, with subtle breaks in it's prime.

By revealing the aforementioned experience, it is not my intention to hijack your thread, yet is meant to support my belief that you will reap the benefits of your labor. Maybe the kid next door and a few pelican heads too.

It is nice, real nice, but the "competition" probably has flowers.

Other than hedge trimming, it looks low maintenance and I like that. Flowers are not low maintenance.

First time was with Meyer Zoysia.....a little less shade tolerant than Emerald as it turns out. I have a mongo oak tree in the front yard that shades the left front 50%

Milt, you are very perceptive. The competition does have flowers. We have some in pots and have azeleas that bloom 2 times per year and a bunch of crape myrtles in bloom now. The yard/grass is hands down the best in the neibhborhood by a long shot and I have walkers tell me so regularly. No love from the HO association though (farging ice hole bastiges!). I'm getting ready to mak my own "Yard of the Month" sign to display proudly! (I'm farging serious!)

The yard looks great. Looks like you need more color as mentioned. Lots of green in the picture.

I love bermuda type grasses, as they look so well kept when worked on. Beats fescue hands down. A nice reel mower is a must.

That said, the crushed granite and cactus in my front yard just stays the same, year after year and after spending half my life fussing with grass and bushes like you have, I like it a lot.

More color,? try snap dragons, low maintenance flowers. Multiple colors. A little water and sun. Your good to go. Throw them in around the timbers and in the bark. They come back every year here, and look great

Most of the landscaping stuff I do is fruit trees and vegetables, really all of it, except for cutting the grass. Yard looks pretty damn good to me. I would plant bottle brush to draw bees, but thats me. Sheeit son, you are in Georgia, you best plant some peach trees.

How about gardenias? White flowers, very fragrant, evergreen, low maint, though you have to remove dead blooms to stimulate flower production. Crepe myrtles are nice, not too big, choice of colors for blooms, looks like you have one already by the driveway, maybe one of those trees with red leaves, or coleus with variegated ones.

Im a Jawga rat too , but South Carolina has the best peaches!!! And Gardenias are the best smelling flower bar none! I keep them potted near all my sitting areas so they will mask my stinky a$$ when I wanna sit and talk with the neghbys

Very nice. HOAs are pure evil, so don't sweat it. With a lot of work my yard gets a bit better each year, but has a LONG way to go.
