Yeah I found a bunch that run 305 Chevy V8 engines at 1,800 RPM so I think that is something I will really consider. I'd rather have more engine and run it at less load than a smaller engine that I am constantly feeding CNG to.

So I have two boxes with one line from the city going into each. Basically my meter feeds two lines into my house where I then run two boxes. So how do I make them work with one knife switch as a manual transfer switch.

I really want the natural gas version. In all the years of using natural gas I have only had one interruption of service and that was when a Simi took out a big meter for a warehouse up the road at work. The gas company shut off the gas to repair the meter.

I like the idea of the automatic switch that powers the entire house. They seem to be 4 to 5 grand installed around here. That is a lot of money for the rare times the power is out.

For thos who already have a gasoline powered generator, here is a place that sells conversion kits to turn it into propane or NG.

Generator Conversion Kits to Propane and Natural Gas.

Mine had been installed by the PO about 8 months before we bought the house. I think it was a touch more than your area...but it came with the house Don't know I would have sprung for it back then, but it really is nice to have a/c, lights, cold beer after a muggy summer thunderstorm when everything is without power.

The system on my unit comes on automatically once a wek to test itself and give you a computer code if there is a problems. It senses when power is lost for more than 15-30 seconds and automatically switches over to generator power. When land power is restored it waits for 90 seconds before switching house off generator to protect against surges.

Pretty cool.
