LOL, kind of funny how the steering wheel is identical to the one Toyota used in the Celica.

I snapped this driving back from DC last Sunday (tragic in that in LA/SF/PHX I'd have not bothered):

Not much to admire about the looks.

Drop in a SBC with a Tremec 6 speed and you're set.

The ones I've come into contact with recently- even new ones- have all been up on lifts for repair, not servicing.

There is a REASON why they are so CHEAP. If they did not have the maintence and repair problems people would want to keep em and not get RID of them for ANYTHING they can get a sucker to pay for...

Unreliable you say? Expensive to maintain? Sounds like a Ferrari for half the price. After hearing this......I don't care.

You can be just like Mel Gibson. He just drove his Maser into a post or something this week.

But I kind of like the demented-sewing-machine-on-speed sound of my cab. Of course, it has to be top down to sound the best from the driver's seat.

I was never a fan of the coupe, but I find these to be extremely attractive:

It probably drives like a piece of crap but you are right, that is a Maserati.

I looked at one a few years ago ('05/'06?) for $75k. I thought that was high and I passed. Now that I've started looking again seriously, it seems the coupes are priced @ $75k and the roadsters are at/over $100k. Damn.

The newer Maserati sedans are the best-looking cars on the road, IMO. Are they crap as well?

Regrettably yes... Beautiful car for sure but even a modern Alfa Romeo or Fiat is better built.
It doesn't even compare to a Japanese car. The paint is good from the factory but that's about it.
The leather hardens quickly is you don't feed it... My friend who's owned and driven these cars for more than 30 years always has lots to do on weekends

I have driven the current model "Quattroporte S" (my friends car). To me it felt like a "refined" Ford V8 sedan.
Any modern Jag drives better but they've always had their own issues.

For a drivers car you want a BMW. I've never particularity liked the modern BMWs looks but they have always driven beautifully.

I have given my opinion on another Maser thread. Still the same opinion. It must be a popular opinion because the demand seems to be pretty low for these cars ...

George

A worthy Maserati...a 2002 Spyder for low $30s?

And an overall slab sided appearance really don't do it for me. It is just an oversized Miata as far as the design goes - leaves me totally cold. I wish these were prettier, as I think they'd be a hoot to drive and maybe even maintain (DIY as a second car).

I would not buy now. Wait 3 years and they will be in the high teens.

How much is Kreissieg exhaust? I bet it is an easy $3K?
Owning a car like this would scare me based on the horror stories I have read on reliability and maintenance costs.
