I tried that. A bit too bulky.

Yup, it's a fashion - and'll probably die out. But I'm not one to follow fashions and bought that watch prior to that. I just like a big, round, easy to read watch. I had to really hunt for that one and the 50mm Jacques LeMans that I bought at about the same time.

I know it looks kinda goofy. Don't care.

What a dumbass I am.

I figure hey, $69 for a cool gadget watch...and it's Apple...and I hear Apple is high quality. I decide I want one.

So I go on the site in the video and find that if I "pledge" $50 to the cause they'll send me the $69 Luna-Tik when the product is released.

So I do that and pat myself on the back for being so innerwebbs shopping savvy, heh, heh.

Then I go back on the innerwebbs and read up on it again and discover that's just for the watch band and doesn't include the $145 Ipod Nano.

But I still want one, so I'm off to buy an Ipod Nano.

I've got to learn to pay more attention.

What a dumbass I am.

Oh oh. I just realized that it's not waterproof or even raindrop resistant. Duh. Living in Portland, that's a non-starter for me. Every watch I have is and has to be waterproof. Except for my last gadget watch, which I notice that I never wear.

In the future, all watches will have to be 'woken up' to see the time. ...it's just cooler if you have to fuss with it more.

I just picked one up at Walmart and on top of that, the sales clerk tells me the battery is only good for 1 - 1/2 years and it's not replaceable unless you know how to take it apart and solder in a new battery - which Apple won't sell you but which are available on the internet. Thanks Apple. I really freakin' hate planned obsolecence.

I'm sitting here looking at it and I haven't got a clue where it comes apart, much less how it comes apart.

Even if I figure that out, I'd probably fry something if I tried to solder one in. I do have a few friends who can probably do it though, so I bought it anyway.

While it wouldn't make it water resistant, Apple could have at least included a snap-in rubber plug, like the one on my cell phone, for the USB connector

A WalMart sales clerk - unimpeacheable source of information on battery life of a product that's only been out for a couple months? Well, anyway Apple will replace a nano 6th gen if the battery won't hold charge, out of warranty, for $59.

That's really good to hear.

The clerk struck me as a decent enough young guy, down on his luck it seems. Said he was laid off from a good IT job where he looked after a lot of PCs. Was a PC guy and admitted he wasn't all that Apple savvy.

Is battery life in a new product really an unknown? I'd have thought the number of charges, current drain, whatever, would have been known/calculated by the designers?

The guy you describe sounds like a guy in my computer class.... He is a flat out Apple HATER and a blithering idiot.... Like they said, take the info you get from wally mart clerks with a grain of salt.

I guess you could have a 944 and a 911, but why?

Seriously, this seems like a much better choice than the nano on the wrist

My backer edition came in today. As a backer I got the Red LunaTik and a black TikTok. The build quality on both of these is astounding. I will mostly likely save the tiktok for a gift as I was after the red Luna. I have to order an iPod now.

It even comes with the wrenches!

Ok, so I finally got off my ass and ordered a Product (Red) Nano. Glad I waited with all the updated faces that came out.

This thing is super light, and fits nicely. I can see it becoming a regular in my lineup.

I don't recall that watch from Fossil but I still have my Casio color camera watch. Probably now just a collectors item and pure novelty. Kind of a spy thing and not too large. Any jpg. can be added or use the built-in camera (cr@ppy). Data is transfered by infrared (no patch cords). Software is compatible with MS7 and down.

Waiting for the day of a Dick Tracy watch and with bluetooth technology.
