Whats the most you've ever spent impulsively on the internet?

We're sort of slow at work today, so I went over to Amazon; thought I'd check out that new book called "Shunt" about James Hunt.

Anyway, one thing led to another, and I had about 250 bucks worth of music and books in my cart; It sure is easy to stimulate the economy when you're just poking around in there.

Seemed like a lot of dough to me, (even with the mostly free shipping!) but I bet it's a drop in the bucket in comparison to other stories of impulsive consumption, eh?

(By the way, I don't compulsively buy on Pelican, it would get ridiculous, I usually identify a project and buy what I need, so that's different - and way more money!)

I don't buy on impulse. Virtually everything I buy is something I have thought about. I have certainly purchased things that I wanted but not necessarily NEEDED. There is a difference. I think about it for a week before I buy it.

I spent $10,500 on a car via eBay. It wasn't really impulsive, though I admit I didn't tell my wife about that particular car, she knew and had agreed that we'd be looking for that model.

Truly "impulsive" as in I wasn't planning for/looking for the item before I saw it online - maybe $100-150?

Semi Impulse...I knew I wanted a custom cue, and Keith Josey was at the top of the list I made of custom makers...but I didn't like the 3-6 month waiting list. So, when he posted on a Billards website of one available for immediate delivery, I picked up the phone... $1,100....

Oh, 3-6 months isn't unusual for a wait on a good custom cue. You want a "Southwest" cue? 10 years from ordering, you'll get it. Of course, this means there are a lot of folks out there "flipping" them...even selling their spot on the waiting list. You often see unused Southwest cues for sale. Not so many Josey cues, because people who play with them love & keep them.

A set of Cup rims.

Price was low, little bidding action, auction ended in the middle of the night, I had been drinking, figured no way my bid would win.

Really did not want/need them but have them I do.

$6k on my rover. I was just browsing, but had to have it when I saw it. I called the guy to tell him I'd be coming with $$$ and went to the post office for MOs. I didn't do any research or even have it inspected, stupid in hindsight, but I'm happy.

Easily Pelican wins for me, during my engine rebuild. Even using the wizard I had a ton of extras added on.

Well... I bought a 911 once.

I was looking for something and happened across the classified for the 911.
I called the guy, met with him the next day and bought it.

only about $90 for a 35mm underwater camera, I wish I had just waited for a good digital to come along for the right price...it's for sale if there are any scuba divers out there who travel south for the winter.

The only time I was impulsive in buying something, it was my '71 911 S. A poster came on Pelican asking questions about a car that he acquired by adverse possession. IOW, a tenant had left it in a garage at an apt that he owned. So, he got the title and asked what it was worth not running back there in '04.

He finally settled on "5 or 6K." I emailed him and said 5K was on its way and I'd figure out how to get it from KY to CA. Sight unseen, 5K is serious money to throw down on even an S (in 2004).

It all worked out. I think you guys remember the car:
