Computer Speakers
Wanting recommendations for a good set of computer speakers/ sub.
My JBL Creature served me well until i sent the right (controller) speaker crashing to the floor, ![]() ![]() Was considering the Klipsch ProMedia set, but haven't found a retailer nearby, and have subsequently learned of their high failure rate. Any suggestions ?? TIA, max

IMHO use the line out of you computer to an inexpensive used stereo and a good set of small near field monitor speakers.
That is what I have and sounds WAY better than any computer speakers you can buy.

Have an older version of those and they sound great, especially for the price.

I have the Klipsch Pro Media 2.1 going on 4+ years, never a problem and they rock.
I do not turn the amp on and off--always left on except when I'm out of town. http://www.amazon.com/Klipsch-ProMedia-Certified-Computer-Speaker/dp/B000062VUO Free shipping...great reviews

I have a set of Altec Lansing 5.1. Love them.
Although I just picked up an older set of JBL home theater speakers (for cheap) w/ powered Sub that I'm thinking about trying out on the PC... dang I love thrift stores. ![]()

I also have and like an older version of the Altec Lansings. I chose them because the treble is pretty good at the price, the bass is ample too but high end was my main criteria.

For the garage where I do the most listening, I run the sound through the stereo. I found the trick is to turn the computer volume very low and let the stereo amp drive the speakers. I'm listening to Pandora as I type this.

I have bose as well and they are the best speakers for a computer I've heard (just 2 speakers, no sub)
