That is the way a 911 is suppose to feel, there is a reason people say, Ain't No Heaven like a 911:p I worked my way through school at the ship yard & a bicycle shop...

Racerbvd, maybe you're not such a bad guy after all. Hey, not everyone told me I couldn't do it. When I was a price-reporter at The Chicago Board Options Exchange I would bring my 911 books to work and some of the big market-makers would take me for rides in their Porsche's and Ferrari's at lunchtime. Some said I couldn't do it but most said keep dreaming...

Racerbvd, I am a liberal democrat since you asked, but like Barack said at the memorial on Wednesday no matter the political persuasion. Our similarities outweigh our differences. It is unfortunate however, that this fact is only brought into focus during times of tragedy...

scoe911,

I don't have time at the moment to answer you thoroughly but I will. I do have a few comments and questions that maybe you can respond to prior to my response so I can answer you more accurately.

First I would like to ask you to go back and read your posts and you tell me who is stereo typing who? I haven't stereotyped you or anyone and more over I haven't passed judgment with the exception of Congresswoman Gifford's who i thought acted irresponsibly. I haven't even judged the gunman.

You stated " you don't live there so your statement lacks credibility" Please tell everyone where I live and my life's experiences that allows you to make that statement about me?

Please tell me how making reference to an area (the hood) and a know activity in that area (illegal gun sales) and the people (gang bangers) involved that is known to exist as reference point took it off topic? Also, I prefaced the statement I made with "not to take it off topic" so the focus didn't turn away from the topic being discussed.

I will post my response to you a little later when I have more time. Hopefully you will answer this post prior.

DR.

This is stereotyping...what makes rap concerts so violent?... why not rock concert?..I'm just asking where do you get your statistics?. How do you know where gang bangers get their guns? Do you know any gangsters? Have you ever belonged to a gang? I personally don't like to give insight on anything unless I have first hand experience. Maybe its just me...

scoe911 01-14-2011 12:55 PM

Yes, I saw you mentioned soccer games and night clubs, alcohol and machismo as well, but the truth is violence can happen anywhere. Machismo?....I see this every day on the trading floor. Its the locals(market-makers) vs. the floor brokers, you want to talk about gangsters...

scoe911 01-14-2011 02:09 PM

I too wondered "what is it about drcoastline that draws such ire". I'm normally a non-confrontational kind of guy. Then, I reread your posts and I see little comments. comments about rap concerts being violent, guns and gang-bangers, and finally and more importantly, comments on government assistance programs and how you dont want your tax dollars going for this ...then I think "say something".

scoe911,

Any time you would like I am prepared to treat you like a gentleman and with the respect you say you want. However, in my minds eye a picture of you is evolving based on your posts. I think Tobra is correct you are looking for an argument not a rational discussion. But again this isn't the thread for that.

I don't know why your skin is so thin or why you have a chip on your shoulder. But I would suggest you sell the Porsche get the chip fixed and buy some thicker skin.

Oh, and based on the state of the economy, Bernie Maddoff's little stunt and several other incidents that have occurred over the past few years. I would agree maybe we should throw the trading floor into the mix of protected places. If you like you can put it first on the list.

Here is the definition of propensity from the Merriam-Webster dictionary:

pro·pen·si·ty noun \prə-ˈpen(t)-sə-tē\
plural pro·pen·si·ties
Definition of PROPENSITY
: an often intense natural inclination or preference
See propensity defined for English-language learners »
Examples of PROPENSITY
He had a propensity for crime.
<the criminal propensities of the family extended over several generations>
Other researches are exploring how the adolescent propensity for uninhibited risk taking propels teens to experiment with drugs and alcohol. —Claudia Wallis, Time, 10 May 2004

People like you will not stop our right to free assembly. People like you will not stop our natural compassion for the poor and disenfranchised. People like you will never be friends of mine. You will however respect my right to disagree with your views. I'm on this forum to stay.

One more thing ...you don't have to respect me. I already have the respect of those who are important to me.

Good for you! :D

I do, however, have a sneaking suspicion that you may be feigning a little naivete and have experience dealing with the intransigent, antipodal types you will encounter here - and think that, if you are able to maintain your gentlemanly demeanor, you'll stay out of trouble with the moderators, whom I think you will find are extremely fair and ballanced.

Did I just say 'fair and balanced'?

Ha ha ha ha!

Have fun, but don't expect to alter anyone's convictions. SmileWavy

Like I said no problems. Dealing with these types is old habit to me at this point in life. I'm almost half a century old and I have all of the wisdom and experience that goes along with it...

drcoastline 01-14-2011 05:18 PM

Again, read my posts.

I am not trying to stop your right to free assembly. I am trying to come up with ways for you to be safe while you do assemble.

I am not trying to stop your "natural compassion for the poor and disenfranchised." I just happen to think the government is an inefficient, wasteful vehicle for helping .

If people like me will not be a friend of yours that's fine. My friends aren't so narrow minded. Open your mind that others have views as well and because they may differ form yours doesn't mean you must hate them.

I do respect your right to disagree. However, you haven't shown where we disagree. Other than I don't think the government should be providing certain services. However, you don't know why I think what I think.

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully we can have a civil discussion on this or some other topic.

Now can we get this thread back on topic?

drcoastline 01-14-2011 05:22 PM

"these types" interesting choice of words. Is that akin to "you people"?

What other meaning could you ascribe?

He could have said "You people of these types".

But then he would specifically be adressing me, accusing me of being one of "those types".

I don't see where he did that.

Or he could have said "these people".

Do you think that, in his mind, you fall into the category of one of "those types" (or, "those people") to which he refers?

I think that's more of an interesting question than his choice of words is interesting.

drcoastline 01-14-2011 05:40 PM

"these types" what type am I?

By your own definition, what type are you?

scoe911 01-14-2011 05:52 PM

drcoastline, you appear to be a little shaken up there..and thats all I'm trying to do here. Shake up your way of thinking...Question? were you perhaps a victim of crime of some sort?...not that I'm making light of it if you were... just asking.

drcoastline 01-14-2011 05:56 PM

scoe911,

Not the least bit shaken up and I have never been a victim of a crime. What else would you like to know?
