Sparking Spoons

Long after you all have shot off all your ammo shooting at Zombies..I will still be picking off marauders and other assorted villains. I kin shoot the eye out of a nat at 200 yards...

The rifle is good enough, but I am not, as I need a 33 round clip to hit the target once.

Maybe not the eye of a gnat at 200 yards, but my flintlock Tennessee Mountain Rifle will stay on a standard clay bird all day long at that range. My standard load is 100 grains of Goex FFg under a .495" diameter round ball with a .015" thick pillow ticking patch lubed with T/C Natural Lube 1000+. That's one hell of a tight patch and ball combination, and requires swabbing the bore every shot, but it's as accurate as many modern center fire rifles. Going with a .490" diameter ball and a .012" patch eases loading considerably, and it's still an honest two minute of angle rifle.

Very cool rifles, tabby. You too, Henry.

Built from a kit when I was about 19 years old, this rifle has accounted for a number of deer since:

I only have one, but it's an original 1863 U.S. Springfield caplock conversion.
It's been in the family for a while and is in very shootable condition, but I've never tried it........

Cool musket, Brian. It doesn't look like any kind of conversion, however. '63's were originally caplock, and it doesn't look like a Trapdoor conversion. It's still a .58 caliber front-stuffer, isn't it?

Yes, looks all original to me. We did shoot these when I was in High School as a part of a re-enactment group. There were not repro's at the time. I'd love to own a nice original

Speaking of 1863 Springfields- I have one that seems to have a different stock design. Any ideas what it is? Also I am missing the ramrod for it. Suggestions on where to find one?

Thanks-
