You are at least partially right Dave, Wayne is busy working on his 959.

He posted several times in the last 24 hours on this thread. Back to work on the 959 tonight...

We really need to buy more parts as he will probably need spares on the 959 and 962.

LOL! Wonder who gave him the one-star.

I think the guy shows a lot of forbearance. Were it my forum & business, I'd have banned your account after 8 pages of sniping at me and my business.

Regarding your earlier response to me - I think if I read between the lines of your three paragraph response, your answer is 'no, I didn't contact Wayne to give him a heads-up on this situation'.

Doesn't that seem like poor communication to you? And yet, over in classifieds, you are dealing out advice like this:

Learn from it and communicate!
(bold added for emphasis)

I guess I don't get it, but that's just me. From where I sit, it looks like you'd prefer to sit there and snipe at Wayne for 8 pages, instead of just sending him a "heads-up, man".

What if his lawyers counseled him to do it? Look man, I can totally relate to your consternation. I have spent long hours dealing with Geoff Watt iker and helping people duped by him recover their funds. His name is now forbidden here. I am not happy about it, but I'm not going to vent my spleen about it here unless I talk to Wayne first. I just think that would be a serious dick move.

Thanks to you and the other players in this for getting this pantload thrown in jail, by the way. Well played.

Exactly. Had this been my forum I would want to remain entirely neutral on this issue, as much as it would kill me from a moral standpoint. Neutral to the point where no discussion of any suspects occurred at all.

It's a legal issue then secondly, a reputation issue. Why would Wayne want this forum and PP in general involved at all? So he can spend his time explaining who's who and what was said and who's responsible for damaging so and so's reputation etc etc to the courts and cops and all the bad press around it?

Hell no.

2nd Imagine if PP got the reputation out there that thieves hang out on the forum or worse, PP themselves are responsible for people's cars getting stolen.

It's just not worth getting involved as a business owner.

Randy, the problem is that neutrality was not taken, and JD's side was, allowing him to practice his craft here, and pray on people.
It is obvious that anybody with a business license, who is flamed here for illegal activities can get immunity by simply threatening a lawsuit. Even though the board, the owner, nor the moderators can be held liable. JD is not the first one who has done this here.
As a business owner getting involved, is exactly what should have happened, or at least had the people who he entrusts to run his forums, get involved.
True the board is not ours, it belongs to Wayne, but it would be nice if Joe's questions were answered.

Didn't Wayne himself have something to do a while back with busting up a high stakes theft ring involving original 917 parts, engines, etc.? I seem to recall reading something about that from an interview he did...

If true it seems odd that his forum would protect a guy like this, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt and I'm sure he's got his reasons - it's his board and even if his reason is "I'm sick of people posting about this assclown on my forums", that's fine by me. He doesn't have to host these boards after all...

Rick,

Actually from the massive amount of private emails I am getting, its not "Joe's questions" or "Mark F, Mark R & Joe's questions," its turning out that a lot of people on the Pelican Parts site would like to know why Jimmy was and and still is being protected. He has been convicted, so is guilty so still blanking out his name is not needed. With 6500 views and 150 posts, its not just one or two people now.

One last thing. We still feel that there are numerous victims of Jimmy chop shop around SoCal and Central California that we are not in touch with. If you do not feel comfortable posting here, please PM or email us (email is better, my inbox is getting really full) and let us know your situation.

The District Atty and CHP officer have both said that even though he is now in jail, should more cases pop up they can always try him for additional counts. We feel that Jimmy still has a stash of 911 parts hidden somewhere so if you are missing an engine, gearbox or car, please let us know so hopefully we can help find it.

Jimmy comes back to court in two weeks or so to find out his sentence. Some of us are going to try to go there for the case. Anyone wanting to join, please let us know.

Joe A

joe hits the nail on the head.......again......

a neutral position could be clearly stated simply by acknowledging the situation, even if it was a simple "i cannot comment for legal reasons".......that would pretty much sum it up.......
but we are now way past that..........
simply ignoring this issue won't make it go away, it's going to get much much worse........maybe to the point where he sees it in loss of sales......

i too have been receiving emails from pp members and lurkers joe.....and yes, there are alot of displeased folk here........

ignoring the issue is kinda like not telling dad you wrecked his cherished classic car and hid it in the garage.......you know the **** is going to hit the fan and are cowering until that moment......
only it's not dads car that was crashed......it's the trust of a community which helped build a successful business......
is it really that hard?
does it matter that it's not "OUR" board?
i know a large group who feel violated for not having the foresight of a possible theft and that jimmy deeering was seemingly protected (again...."seemingly" because we have nothing to base the stance of this bb from)...........

what is the possibility that the old pms/posts of said thief could be gone through and contact could be made with the possible victims? not sure how the archives work......but imo that is one way that face could be saved......

Thanks to all you guys for bringing d*e*e*r*i*n*g* down.

I get your frustration with the seeming "protection", but anything we say or surmise is just that - a WAG. If one really wants to know, then I feel that one must ask the question (with an open mind) directly. Maybe there will be a mea culpa, maybe not, or maybe no reply at all. Even though the board is monitored, the accusations that this thread is being purposely ignored because of ignoble intent is too much guesswork. Just ask, try a PM etc.... My 0.10 (inflation)

And let's say that someone made a "mistake", be willing to forgive. Everybody screws up sometime..

no.......it's past that point........
this bbs is highly monitored and controlled (for lack of a better word) which keeps it a civil place to discuss our porsches, off-topic subjects, and god forbid politics.......

we have no other info to go by.......in one of my previous posts i stated all it would take to clear up any misunderstandings........
the lack of general participation or any comments WHATSOEVER is the issue......being that in the years that this has been going on that the topic was treated like something i don't care to type.......yet now........zero.....zip.......
still cant even type jimmy deering........
what we want is pretty simple.......acknowledgment and some participation on the subject which has now come to an end......

why is the sky blue?
where do babies come from?
why wasn't i made aware on a bbs that i frequent that this guy jimmy deeering would steal what i've worked so hard for?
this is the issue.......it is for the people who weren't as fortunate as those in the unedited loop.

A.V. mechanic accused of operating chop shop
January 12, 2011 8:58 AM

VICTORVILLE • Attorneys made opening statements Tuesday in the trial of an Apple Valley mobile mechanic accused of operating a chop shop and selling an engine of his client’s Porsche.

Jimmy Deering, 33, is charged with five counts of receiving known stolen property, one count of buying or receiving stolen property and owning a chop shop. If convicted, the defendant could face up to nine years in prison.

Deputy District Attorney Anthony Enciso told jurors at Victorville Superior Court that Deering was swapping and selling engines and transmissions he had been entrusted by Porsche owners — including a few from Northern California. The defendant brought home the parts needed to be repaired and never returned them to the owners, Enciso said.

Deering sold one of the engines on Craigslist and another one showed up in a Long Beach man’s car, Enciso said. Investigators also found a stolen seat in the defendant’s shop.

But Robert Ponce, Deering's attorney, told the jurors Deering was selling the parts because the customers weren’t willing to pay him.

Common tactic, blame the victims. No one is there to defend them....yeah, like the rich douche nozzles that owned the Porsches, like wouldn't pay me, so I took their stuff and sold it.....they had it coming to them, see...they shoulda bought American.....then I woulda only slept with their sisters.....yeah, that's the ticket.....

While it may be easy to second guess Wayne or say what "he should have done" let's remember one thing. It's his board and we use it for free. It's his call either way. He can do whatever the heck he wants and we don't have a say in it, we can either play here for free or we can go somewhere else and play.

I used to hang on a Porsche board where the inmates took over the asylum. They didn't like what the owner was doing so they ganged up and TOOK the forum and website from the owner and originator. Some have even gone as far as to say they STOLE it.

Didn't turn out well.

"But Robert Ponce, Deering's attorney, told the jurors Deering was selling the parts because the customers weren’t willing to pay him."

This was my favourite part... and evidently two women on the jury believed him. At least they convicted him on the other counts.
