Amazing 914

I know nothing of the 914 market, but if this car is as original as claimed, it seems like a unique find.

It's nice, but there's a few non-original things on it just at a glance. Replica Fuchs, side trim, exhaust, stereo... etc..

It's also a 1975 1.8L (least powerful of all 914's) that looks to be missing some of the appearance group options..

Assuming the mileage is original, I wouldnt pay more than $6 or 7K tops. For the money they are asking, you could find a nice 914-6 conversion.

I might be incorrect on this one, but I'm also pretty sure that the antenna is originally on the driver's side as well. It was on all three 914's I've owned..

pretty clean looking, but about triple what I would pay

I thought all the '75 and '76 914s were 2.0 motors, those wheels have to go. Does that stupid looking side trim mean they drilled holes to mount it?

no battery cover
fuchs have wrong center cap
AUTOMOBILE ATLANTA catalog! RUN! RUN!

The dealer uses crack....That is an $8-10K car. I would need to see in the trunk, underside and hell hole really before even setting a price.

My Toyota Corona had that trim and it was self adhesive, no holes. I know 75 had 1.8 liters. I think 1976 was 2.0 only.

$20K? I wish 914's were worth that much.

Was the stereo (and antenna) factory installed or dealer installed? Was that side trim dealer installed?

there were plenty of 75 1.8's and I have never personally seen a 914 that didn't have at least one wire hanging down below the dash

That is probably the 2nd cleanest, 2nd most original 914 I've ever seen but it still is only worth about $10k tops IMO.

(the cleanest 914 I've seen belongs to a guy who lives about 3 blocks away from me, I've only seen his car one time and that was at Dunkel's. It was a white 2 liter IIRC.)

PASS

High miles to be called Original, plus all the non-original junk on the car ( wheels, side trim, radio), plus it has an Auto Atlanta Catalog front & center

Price is way high

This forum is always proving to be an invaluable resource.

I don't know anything about the 914's. My first thoughts were, what would it cost to keep an airplane hanger at 72 degrees for 35 years, and if its original, why all the shop manuals.

I like it, except for the non-original side trim, stereo, and the wire hanging under the dash. Plus, the center caps are wrong. Not more than a $10K car, IMO.

Oh wait, was that annoying? I'm sorry.

Think what it would take to transform most $2000 project 914's into that.

Time and money.

I would not pay that much for that car right now.
If I had disposable income, sure, why not?

There really aren't that many 914's that are as nice as they seem to say and show that it is.
The cars that are that nice, most have spent more than $20k.

True story...

I don't think I would let mine go for $20k.

I saw this car at the XXXX drive-in at a sunday drive and show. Looks real good and truly looks like a new car. Maybe 5K tops. Or put it back in the hangar for another 35 years, then you could get some great coin for it.

I have factory shop manuals for all our vehicles. They come in very handy, and I've like to buy them before I need them.

The antenna was a dealer item. They put them on either side of the car.
