Not a NASCAR fan but

WTF did they do to make the cars pair up like that. That looks just plain stupid.

It has got to be the worst form of racing EVERRRRRRRRRRR. Between the 'koetions' & the commercials I'm friggin' done. Will NEVER watch a CRASHCAR race on FOX again. In fact the Penguins are on now, screw you CRASHCAR.

Fox just gave a great definition of why they're racing this way. The new surface at Daytona enables (or requires if a driver wants to win Daytona) two cars to join together and have twice the horsepower as one car. In short, two cars linked like that go over 200 mph, while one car is barely cracking 195.

I think it's cool how these NASCAR drivers are able to adapt to such varying track conditions throughout the year. They have serious talent.

I'm not a NASCAR fan but the different style of racing is interesting. What I don't understand are all the full course cautions? I understand it somewhat for a safety reason but some of the ones they are throwing seem contrived, maybe to get the most number of cars over the finish line??

While it's not my "style" of racing, I challenge any of the critics on the board to do the same thing in one of those cars. I can turn a 2:12 at Watkins Glen in my car and that's on my own. I can't imagine trying to haul the mail relying on someone else. That takes a lot of balls.

It's a show not a race.

It is drafting in the sense there is no air on the second car but they are linked up and the second one pushing. I think they said three would not be stable for the middle guy.

Now a team sport and you need 2 cars?

Not stable? NONE of them can even friggin' see one another other than the car in front, just plain dumb.

The drivers have spotters to help them see around them. Are you watching and listening to the race?

You should go to see at least one NASCAR race live. Yes, it is a show. More like an event.

I've been too many, Michigan, NH, Dover. I used to be a HUGE CRACHCAR fan in the mid 80's early 90's... until it became a show, er event. Was a big Bill Elliott fan.

Every sport outgrows itself to a degree. I remember back in the day when pro football players needed to have real jobs when the season ended.

I know this: I'd rather watch Daytona than the All-Star Game.

What's great about this particular Daytona is how the drivers communicate with each other to make deals as to who will push who.

I suspect the end of this race to be very exciting.

Yeah and professional wrestlers are talented in thier shows too...talent on the part of the participants doesnt make the show any less ridiculous.

Im sorry, but you cannot have a racing series where the cars are required to have constant contact to be competitive. Between chipmunks dancing on the screen, lucky dogs and all of the other contrived crap, I thought that the "sport" couldnt have gotten any more silly...and yet I have been proven wrong once again.

No different than any other pro sport. Fact is, I separate the sport from the marketing of the sport.

The contact is not continual through the series. In this particular race it is a necessity, but not through the entire series.

Formalities. There's always a crash with one lap to go. It's the WWF for cars, remember?
