Sickos like that tend to kill again, just like sexual predators.

The father doesn't want it on his conscience when the guy kills another child, I can understand that.
But like others have said, if someone really wanted to kill someone there are ways to go about it and not go to prison.
Talking to the press about it isn't one of those ways.

People who prey on children are never cured. Though I think it should be a mandatory death sentence to prey on a child, there's no point in giving them anything less than life in prison with no parole. They cannot be cured or rehabilitated and are guaranteed recidivists in waiting with anything less than life/no parole.

My guess is that due to the threat, he won't be released prior to the forty years being served.

I'd contribute to the father's defense fund. If it's Providence, RI, the guy could have the murderer taken out for pocket change.

I remember back in the UK some years back, the "Bring back hanging" issue was up for debate in the House of Commons. The then Minister heading the Home Office (the Gov Dept responsible,) said he could not support it because if an innocent person was hanged, he could not live with the knowledge that he made it possible.

What BS. Thats why we elect these people. If you can't make tough decisions on our behalf, then don't stand for office.
They have no compunction sending kids of to war when it's not their arse on the line.

Hanging or injection may be too ritualistic for this type of killer, just drag them out the back & shoot them.

Sorry dagriff, while I think the death sentence is appropriate in some situations I'm reluctant
to support it.

Check how many death row inmates in TX have been exonerated by DNA last couple of years.

The system makes too many mistakes.

True 'dat. Providence is a pretty rough hood. Parts of it anyway. Lots of destitute individuals down there who'd probably "dirty deeds done dirt cheap".

Stoning sounds good. Have the father throw the first rock.

Can't wait to see your favorite candidate's campaign slogans:
"Not afraid to kill innocent people!"
"I'll kill the innocent in order to protect the innocent!"
"I'll kill the innocent to get revenge on the guilty!"
Or take a line from Animal House, "Crime absolutely requires a really futile and stupid gesture be done on somebody's part!"

I don't think there is a jury in America who would convict him if he was able to do it.

16 States have civil incarceration for sex offenders following criminal incarceration. It may be a mental institution, but it is just like jail. Instead of plotting and planning murder, Dad should petition the State Legislature for a quick pass of a copycat law of one of the 16. I recommend South Carolina's Statute. Good behavior in prison in no way equates to "cured sex offender".

Jury's should decide whether the plea bargain is appropriate. After they have made their decision, if there was a plea bargain, the jurors should decide whether it stands or is quashed based on the severity of the crime.

In the US....a jury can be over ruled by the judge on ANYTHING. He can even take a not guilty verdict and say WTF...ya stoopid?

Matter of fact, a defense lawyer can ask for a non jury trial if he feels that the mouth breathers are all gonna hang his client from the get go.
