I was and I don't regret it for a minute. (white 1975 1.8 914 POS, and then a BEAUTIFUL TO ME silver 1974 2.0 914 while I was in college) That 2.0 914 carried me and all of my earthly possessions to California in 1990. I was proud of that car (I rebuilt the motor in my parent's basement one winter) and thought that it was the greatest car ever and that I was the coolest guy ever because I had the good sense to own it and drive it. Older Porsche (and Ferrari) guys ENCOURAGED my pompous/arrogant OLD ENTRY LEVEL P Car behavior and guess what? I have become a life-long Porsche/Ferrari driving enthusiast because of that encouragement. The Pompousness/Arrogance has rescinded a bit but I'm still basically the same guy. (I'm 46 years old now). Just because you are old, doesn't give you a pass to be an A $$ hole to the younger guys. This is a Porsche Forum. Not a Mustang Forum. I love Ferrari's and haven't bought a Porsche in several years. But you don't see me on here spouting off about how cool an 8 cylinder Ferrari sounds when it is heating up in your garage on a cold morning. (It does, but I don't) Further, other than their "stats", newer Mustangs have no quantifiable redeeming value whatsoever. 50k for ANY MUSTANG made during the last 40 years is laughable. As far as I'm concerned, Mustangs are probably reliable transportation, but not much else. PWD, I wouldn't trade you even, your Mustang for my daily driver 2008 Nissan Titan Crew Cab. |

Claiming it held 1.02 on street tires, and then finding out it was on Pirelli Rcomps? C'mon, he knew that.... For reference paul, my 944 will hold better than 1.02 on comp tires, honest truth. Claiming the 5.0 is better than M3 b/c the mustang LOST to the M3? I don't care by how little, a win is a win.... Your right, in the garage I would tell him he a was a full of **** crotchety old fart, except those little stars wouldn't be there.... Until he puts up, he needs to shutup.... There have been plenty of 944 guys willing to take him up on his trash talk... |

Some people post about fords. . . some about how to afford an Apple computer. ....some are crotchety old bastards. ....some are emotional young twits, with their panties in a major twist. Gotta love this board. :D |
iLand, where do you fit in this demographic? Inquiring geezers want to know!

He's just a twit period.....

I admit the mustang stuff gets old but you took it too far. He simply fired back after you pretended that a 944 was something special. |
I will fully admit I did this time...

That's refreshing...Sammy comes through with the most level-headed, accurate post in the thread.

Well, constantly posting how cool Mustangs are on a Porsche forum IS trolling.... Nothing wrong with calling him a troll then.... (I agree that personal attacks are not necessary) |

. . .or maybe you're saying this belongs under the Religion OT. (?) |
FYI, the lateral g story is old news.
The Corvette ZR1 pulls 1.07 Gs on Michelin PS2s. The Nissan GT-R pulls 1.04 Gs on Dunlop SP Sport 600s. The Porsche Boxster pulls 1.01 Gs on the Pirelli P Zeros. Only the Boxster is in the same price category as the Mustang. But in this case, the Mustang was on R-compound tires, so it's apples and oranges. Chances are in an apples-to-apples comparison, the latest generation Camaro would outperform the latest generation Mustang. This despite a nearly 500 lb. weight disadvantage. But all of this is academic. It's lap times or slalom times that tell the most about handling, and that's when mass and polar moment of inertia become most relevant. American "pony" cars are going to be quite a ways down the list on any such comparison chart. |
Island,
For me this is the OT section of PelicanParts.com, a BMW and Porsche site. I come here when not visiting the Porsche tech section, or Parts for sale section, I come here because I am a Porsche enthousiast and owner. If I was a Mustang owner I would not be on a Porsche forum. I'm not saying that Paul is not welcome here, because he is. He's a former owner so he still has friends here, I presume. No problem for me. But to come here and troll?? (Be honest, that is what he is doing) That is bad form. Too bad Sid takes the bait so easily. |
Sorry, G.... I have to vent on someone, Paul makes a nice target...
