Ok its settled then...since the Mustang has superior statistics, we shall all purchase one. End of story. Guess this post can now fall to the bottom.

He hasn't even tried to deny that. Quote:
Maybe it would've been better for me to approach him in PM, but a few months ago, I used PM in an attempt to ask him to clear up something kind of inflammatory he said to me in one of his posts, and he essentially blew me off in the manner of someone who was a little unbalanced and/or didn't want to be bothered to explain what they meant by/clear up something they said. So, if he wants to continue to troll here and poke fun at 944's, IMO, that's trolling. Think of it like the fishing version of trolling. Cheer up, 928's could be next. :D |

All this concern. It's really touching. I'm being moved to tears. |
Cars are fun - all of them. OK, some more than others, but geeze, I'd flog an 85 Mustang around Mid-Ohio if it was the only thing available and I'd have a great time doing it.

Mustangs are still considered drag cars. I have about a gillion buddies with mustangs, and most of them go to the 1/4 mile track, whereas only one does any sort of racing with turns involved. Mustangs are drag cars. Quote:
The Mustang GT's from 1979 on have always, always been extremely popular at drag strips, and were always quite capable 1/4 mile performers in their day. Fox notchbacks like the one you posted are still very popular, because they're the lightest of the Fox body mustangs. I have seen some that run 10s on pump gas, and about a gillion that run 11s or 12s. And in the 80s, some of them were very badass road cars too: http://static.cargurus.com/images/si...pic-41293.jpeg Quote:

Damned if I even remember the PM...sure as hell must not have been very important to me, Sorry if it was to you, man.
As far as drag racing goes...well, yeah, Mustangs are very popular at the strip. Pick up any Mustang mag at the newsstand...cover blurbs will be drag race oriented, as will the photo. If you dig really deep in these mags, you'll find an article or two on handling. There is a featured Fox ragtop in the latest issue of Muscle Mustangs & fast Fords. A pushrod 5.0 modded to 422 horsepower on the dyno, with an et of 11.68 at 119. Nothing said about skid pad performance. Probably because the owner doesn't care, and neither does the majority of the readership. The thing is, a Mustang can do either...twisties or straight line. Porsches are a rare sight at the drag strip. Always exceptions to any rule, though. It doesn't surprise me that many here refuse to believe me when I say there are Mustangs that handle twisties well. What I find funny is that these folks don't want to believe Road & Track, Motor Trend, etc. The reaction seems to be: "Oh, that can't be true"... What I find remarkable about the boss 302 is that it WILL play with the european iron quite well on a race track, and take 'em on at the drag strip as well. Nothing wrong with liking both chocolate and vanilla, right Snipe? ;) As far as mental well being? I sure don't miss a few of the folks I met back when the early 911S suddenly became a sought after collectable. I felt they were surely crazy with their fixation on acquiring things, much like the Ferengi (sp?) in an old Star Trek bit. The haters here? Well, I'm sure not going to change their closed little minds...so let 'em rant away. |

1981 Mustang GT. |
Pretty clean lines if you ask me...certainly better looking than a lot of other 1981 offerings I can think of...

At least Porsche had the sense to vastly improve the looks throughout the '80s.... Can't say so much for the rustang....
