Still, even with decent looks (I actually prefered the previous mustang body to the newest version) and stunning performance, I wouldn't have one. I don't want a car that's THAT common. The only thing around here more common than a mustang is a pickup truck, and even then, you might be hard pressed since there are so many different pickup trucks (F150, F250, dually, crew cab, Dodge, Chevy, Toyota, etc...). The F150 might beat the Mustang. Also, I just can't see paying that much for a mustang and watching the depreciation hit. I'd much, much rather get a slightly used car that I thought was better engineered and built that had already taken the depreciation hit on someone else's watch. All of that is irrelevant because I'm not getting ready to pay $50k for any car. The most that I've ever paid for a car was my old '88 targa, and that was less than $20k. |
Look at what a near new M3 costs here in Oz

And what will this laguna stang cost there?
I've seen plenty of lightly used Ms around here... Lots of people buy them for the status, and are afraid to turn the ASC off. The one my folks picked up last year was that way. It has seen 100k before it really got beat on. 2011 BMW M3 Coupe vs. 2011 Ford Mustang GT Curtain Graphs - Motor Trend Steve, the M still won in hands of a pro... Yes the new stang is fast, I'm not denying that.... I'm just saying they are still bloated, cheap interior cars, and there is no way in hell I would pay that for one. |
Well if this is anything to go by:

If he is so sad, shouldn't you just ignore him? Well? Methinx some of those pointing fingers and using the word troll should look in the mirror. Paul is a damn nice guy, and i would hang with him anytime. Which is more than i can say for you. |

A 1983 Mustang GT would destroy a N/A 944 like yours, probably winning by 10 or more car lengths. Truth be told, your particular model 944 is an embarrassment to the Porsche marque when it comes to straight line acceleration. (I like 944's but the early 944 N/A models were absolute dogs) Mustangs are not intended to be great handling cars, and that is not the demographic they are pandering to. They are muscle cars, and they are meant to go fast in a straight line, one quarter of a mile at a time. And the young boy saying he'd rather buy a "lightly used" (LOL) M3 than a new Mustang for $50k....well if you buy a "lightly used" (LOL) Mustang you're still way ahead of the game $ wise vs the BMW. And honestly, Paul's particular mustang is in no way "entry level." |
The times posted in the article actually put this car in the 'super-car' category. Hardly anything to whinge about.

But today? Well, if you even pretend to have an open mind, that scenario has changed. Not only will the Boss 302 turn in impressive 1/4 mile times, it will indeed beat a M3 around Laguna Seca. Both the standard Boss 302 AND the special Laguna Seca version beat the costlier M3 around that track. You've seen the R&T test..that is, if you bothered to read & watch before you began spewing venom. (By "you", I mean several of you...and you know who you are.) That was the Laguna Seca version, the hot Boss 302. For a test of the standard Boss 302, including video of it on Laguna Seca...check out the motor trend piece here. 2012 Ford Mustang Boss 302 First Test - Motor Trend Those who don't want to see such tests? Hey, don't click! Thanks, Snipe...you handle (and nail) the nasty ones better than I...SmileWavy |

I agree Paul is a nice guy and I remember his posts from when he still owned his 911. Over the last 5 years there has been a marked shift in behaviour that is harsher and more agressive - my suggestion to talk to some one was serious. If I really didn't like him, I wouldn't have made it. AM |

Sorry, you're right. 'Borderline demented' was probably a bit too much of an armchair diagnosis and 'sadly pathetic' was probably over the line.
To a degree I'm probably venting on Paul in the initial post I made. As anyone who deals with the situation knows, having an unstable relative can be frustrating and emotionally frustrating. When I saw the same behaviour coming from someone who used to be a valuable contributor, I went a bit over the top. In retrospect, a private PM would probably been better. AM |

I though proof of having a mental disorder was a prerequisite before posting here?

Andrew...just watch the video on page 2 of the Motor Trend test, okay? Like you, I took psychology 101. I just don't roam around the internet telling folks they're crazy...
Best to ya anyway, since you seem so concerned about my welfare. SmileWavy |
