Indy Car, new role for Danica....

They just need to put a trash bag at the back of her car. She can vacuum up the track for her own parts and the parts of others. At least the undertray can be used for something while running back there with the rookies.

Go Simone.

Go Simona!

Ms De Silvestro is one good one behind the wheel. Saw her on Thursday here in St Pete...

Go Simona!

Simona finished fourth! Highest finish for her ever in the series. Good first race of season.

If Milka Duno was still in a car, along with Ana Beatriz, the 3 could provide a powder puff derby within the race.

I'd say this is Danica's last year in an open wheeler.

Right after I took this shot she said to me, "Did you have to take my picture coming out of the bathroom?". I told her. "Sorry, but that's the price of fame.."

Imagine where those sleeves have been.

You'd think there'd be a crapper in the hauler.

Did Danica have anything to do with this.....

"A 1950s-era military training aircraft crashed in Tampa Bay this afternoon after taking part in the Honda Grand Prix's opening ceremonies.

The T-28 Warbird, used to train Navy and Marine pilots in the 1950s, was having mechanical problems and trying to make an emergency landing at Albert Whitted Airport, near downtown St. Petersburg, about 12:30 p.m., according to a news release from the city.

The plane hit the water just offshore from the breakwater at the St. Petersburg Marina and yards from the airport runway.

The pilot and passenger, whose names have not been released, were treated for minor injuries after rescue workers pulled them from the wreckage.

Officials from the Federal Aviation Administration are at the airport investigating the crash, according to the city's release. Emergency officials are working to contain a small fuel spill from the aircraft.

The Warbird is the second small plane in three days to crash in the water while trying to land at the airport.

Another plane crashed about 4 p.m. Friday while trying to land at the airfield. The pilot of that single-engine aircraft was not injured."

SO Sunday my son had a friend over (Saturday we went to the GP, watched the world challenge race) - his friend always like to take a boat ride - It was a little rough out - but hey - they always do some sort of air show before the start.

So saw the planes take off -

The kids on the boat

The GP

and the result of the plane in the water

So saw them all take off - saw them assemble - then saw one plane peeling off and heading back to the field - he went over head and you could hear the engine spluttering - I said that does not sound good - he circled around the bay - at one point was headed straight for the boat - (yes, boat was in gear, just in case) then he started his turn towards landing strip. When he started flaring (and the engine was spluttering and missing) I knew he wasn't going to make it. Lucking he hit the water instead of the seawall or he'd be dead.

The boat in the third picture was right there fishing (too close to the runway for me) and the plane wing missed the t-top by what looked like less then 50 feet.

made a heck of splash. Then the plane nosed over. Two guys from the fishing boat jumped in and pulled the pilot and passenger out - before any rescue folks could arrive. We stayed put and within minutes we were passed by rescue boats/craft flying by us.

Pretty amazing really - the pilot and passenger were very luckily the fishing boat was right there - and the fishing boat was luckily they were not taken out. Seriously...

Danica is not doing herself any favors by splitting her time with NASCAR.

Simona has the talent, is focused and seems to have the right attitude.

Must be her "Race Face". She always seems to be happy in the Go Daddy and Peak adverts.

Uh...she just may have had a point. Paul Newman's reason for not giving autographs comes to mind.
