i am worried about my cat
yesterday i noticed that my cat was walking like her hips are killing her. if i even touch her hip and tail area, she flips out. she spent most of the day sleeping on my lap and today she is sleeping on my bed. i don't know how she could be injured, as she is mostly an indoor cat and it has been raining the last few days. when she does go outside, she stays well within our yard. i also realized that she couldn't have eaten anything, because the food is on a shelf and she is having difficulty getting on something as high as the couch seat. i put some food in front of her where she is sleeping and she devoured it. she hasn't complained or cried, except when i've tried to pet her in the region of her tail or hind legs.
this is her as a kitten. she is now about 7 years old.

Could be a bladder thing? If she were mine, I'd get to the vet...

i just put some water in front of her and she is drinking like no tomorrow. she couldn't reach the water either. sheesh, you'd think she would complain a bit. i know she was eating two evenings ago, as i saw her chowing down.

I'd say a visit to the vet is in order. Better safe than sorry.

Could be a spine injury, a joint injury, broken hip...something affecting her mobility, obviously.
Get to the Vet...Xrays could tell more.

Localized cat arthritis is another possibility. I agree with previous posters: a vet visit is in order.
(Edit: I guess all arthritis is localized, to the joints.)

Have the vet check her Anal Gland. My cat was acting just like that, then it ruptured took him to the vet 500 bucks later he was just fine. Its a pretty common thing in cats. But I would take her in to the Vet ASAP

kidneystones or bladder, or having taken a bad beating, could be all sorts of things, off the the vet.

I think the conclusion is pretty universal here...off to the vet!

The drinking lots of water comment has me thinking possible renal failure - hope it's not that. I lost a wonderful cat to CRF (Chronic Renal Failure) a couple of years ago - rotten disease that is common to cats.
Kidney stones might be a possibility too. As a general rule, anytime a cat displays symptoms overtly, it's bad - cats are VERY good at concealing their symptoms (think survival - if you display weakness or injury, you're as good as dead). Get her looked at ASAP!

well, she seems to be acting more herself, today. she is getting around and checking things out. i did trip over her the other morning and she was inadvertently kicked pretty good by my windmilling legs. maybe she got hurt there.

i am thinking anal gland, after some investigation and the hint given above. if i lifter her tail, she goes ape****, biting and crying. she never bites hard, just puts her teeth to my skin. it breaks my heart.

rupture anal gland?? man that sounds painful. poor cat. i'm thinking anything that ruptured will not un-rupture on it's own.
i'd suck it up and go to a vet. my vet will let his clients break big payments apart, for no interest.
