moving sucks...
...but most of the boxes are empty. After waiting 8 days for them to get the place sorted the movers showed up Saturday, first at the g/f's house, then my apt, then the new house. That was a long freakin' day. Still haven't moved the garage yet as I don't have the opener for the new place but light is at the end of the tunnel. A few pics of life in SM

That's an extremely cool place, Todd. I'm glad you got it. Calvin will love it and it will be perfect for finishing his high school career. Only problem is that he might never want to move from it. Good luck!

We are going through the same thing. She has her dream closet and I have my dream workshop. However, after 10 days of carrying / cleaning / hauling and dumping, I am beat. We still have a lot of unpacking to do. Will all be good in the end but it sure is a chore.

Nice, looks like not a lot a space between you and the adjacent apt. bldg that appears to be under construction/remodel. But then again it is an apartment.

![]() This is a house. The neighbors are very close on both sides (4500 sq ft lot I think) and that isn't remodel - it is an "art project" with a bunch of out of state license plates nailed to a big sheet of plywood. The good thing is I've heard them playing electric guitar so hopefully the music room won't piss anyone off. The backyard is small but private, and there is plenty of street parking. Whole Foods is a half block walk away, and a ragin' mex food shack next to it. |

All right you found a good looking place. Is it in the right area for your son to get to the same school? Of course we want to see the garage. Any space for the GF's project area?
That was some search, hope you are settled in soon. Cheers Richard |

Still in SM, so same school district. 1 mile to the HS so walkable. The garage...feh, a small 1.5 car. We decided to bail on using that for anything other than motorcycle/bikes/storage and found her a new studio space in Inglewood (right near Randy's Donuts for those that know the famous landmark). A developer took an old car dealership and is turning it into artist studio spaces. Much cheaper than the westside, nice space, secure, etc. And her gallery booked her a solo show for June 2012. Hopefully the art market will pick up and that'll make studio rent painless.

Good luck with the move. Somehow the movers that did our relo from San Antonio to Charleston lost a king size / 100lb headboard. It's just gone; they have no clue where it went. Luckily it's possible to even buy a replacement, but it's been a huge PITA dealing with it.

Nostatic, nice place. All area in all pics look nice so far. Just throw everything in to be done with the move for now. Organize the place later.

Great looking place! Love the kitchen! I'd get rid of that torchiere in the front room. I believe they have been outlawed from college dorms since too many of them caught the rooms on fire. That halogen lamp is great for light but flippin hot!

Nice digs NS. Looks like the backyard is nicely shaded in the the evening.
Find out what circuits the music room is on. Hopefully it is a mix of several. Don't use computers, hair dryers, spaceheaters, etc. on the same circuit. The previous owners of our house were musicians, and one room had crispy outlets. |

Actually there is some major fail in the design of the remodel they did. The vent above the stove is right at my face level, and the corners stick out such that I can easy whack them. Going to put some roll bar padding on the corners so I don't kill myself. If they'd mounted it 8" higher it would have been fine. The g/f has no problem...I suppose that gives me an out for cooking a lot

Now that's an innovative solution.
