WTF? Pakistan Let China Access UBL Raid Chopper
WTF? Why do we continue to support these a$$wipes, when they are doing crap like this?
EDIT: I know there was talk of the Chinese looking at it soon after the raid. Report: Pakistan Let China Access UBL Raid Chopper Aug 15, 2011 11:47 AM EDT The Pakistani government allowed Chinese military engineers to photograph and take samples from the downed top-secret helicopter U.S. Navy SEALs left behind after they successfully killed Usama bin Laden, the Financial Times reported Sunday. The report comes after months of speculation and rumors that Pakistan gave the Chinese access to the super-stealth chopper. "The U.S. now has information that Pakistan, particularly the ISI, gave access to the Chinese military to the downed helicopter in Abbottabad," the paper quoted one person in intelligence circles as saying, referring to the Pakistani spy agency. The Financial Times reported that President Obama's national security team has been discussing the incident and quoted one official as saying the situation "doesn't make us happy." "We had explicitly asked the Pakistanis in the immediate aftermath of the raid not to let anyone have access to the damaged remains of the helicopter," said the source, described as someone close to the CIA. China is increasingly seen as a growing rival to the military power of the U.S., particularly in the Pacific Ocean. Earlier this week the Chinese government announced that its first aircraft carrier successfully completed its first sea trials. The US Navy SEALs successfully killed the Al Qaeda leader in his Abbottabad, Pakistan, hideout on May 2. The SEALs flew into Pakistan in helicopters equipped with top-secret stealth technology. One of the advanced choppers was rendered inoperable after it crashed into the wall of the terror chief's compound. The SEALs attempted to destroy the helicopter, but parts of the helicopter, including its tail, remained intact. Obama ordered the SEALs to complete the raid without the permission of the Pakistani government, further complicating the already tense diplomatic relationship between the two countries. China and Pakistan have for decades had strong military ties, and the U.S. government officially requested that Pakistan not grant the Chinese government access to the mostly-destroyed helicopter. An unnamed senior U.S. government official told the Financial Times it is difficult to determine how useful access to the helicopter would have been to the Chinese. We try to keep them as a frendly nation only because they have nukes. We would like to try to keep their nukes away from the terriost groups. I bet it will not be long before they sell a nuke to the terriost and it is used in the USA.

Why don't we just sell them some in exchange for buying back some of our T-bills? Most days we're the ones wanting what China has (slave labor, cheap electronics junk, dim sum, pandas, willingness to buy our debt, etc.) Now that we have something they want, let's use it to our advantage...

Tell me again why we give any money to Pakistan? Oh, like they help us to fight the terrorists.

I'm mostly kidding in the above post BTW...
I am concerned about the possibility of a stealth helicopter and a nuclear warhead both being in Pakistani hands, where they could easily both get into the hands of an extremist group, which would be very, very bad for Israel. China would profit mightily off of being able to sell stealth helicopters to Iran/Pakistan/Syria/etc. It would not be good for Israel at all. It's only a matter of time before a nuke warhead ends up in the hands of a terror group or a de facto terror group (like Iran's government) assuming it hasn't already happened. If so, the only thing standing in the way of very bad things happening is a delivery method. A stealth anything (helicopter, plane, etc.) would be ideal for any group nuts enough to want a warhead - and there are plenty of them out there.

Just remember, our "allies" aren't necessarily our friends.

I get so tired of the "oh well" attitude we apparently have toward these kinds of things, although I realize there's nothing you can do after the chickens are out of the coup. When an Undersecretary of Defense (I think that's who he was) was interviewed concerning the latest, largest transfer of secret defense, industrial, economic, financial, business, etc., etc. data by Chinese hackers, it was kind of like "yeah, they were in there for months." As if it was nothing to get our feathers ruffled about. I'm just in hopes that there is a different attitude behind closed doors but those hopes aren too high. I'm really sorry we're - or seem to be - too high & mighty to play the game seriously with them and on their terms. Maybe we just aren't capable of it. Sad.

Are we talking about the same country we sent armed combat troops into without permission to kill/capture one man?
How dare they! No respect, I tell you!

Best scenario would of been to not have crashed our own secret helicopter.

Our present DoState is a joke to anyone serving anywhere in the world. Of course, our present DoState is a joke to pretty much everyone else except Hill and Hussein.
We will reap the lack of respect and pandering for the press somewhere down the road. Most likely from a paid ally. |

Hi
|
I have a couple thoughts on this.
we went into Pakistan without permission because we knew OBL was there and Pak was not cooperating with us. What better way to test your wartime technology than to use it in a real life scenario. Yes, you can test at home but its never the same as real life. We knew there was a chance that the enemy would have access to our downed equipment; it was a calculated risk. I wish we could nuke the area but that will never happen. As far as crashing our secret helicopter, "its wartime and ***** happens".

Hughes worked on a satellite for the Chinese, to be sold to them, then placed into orbit by their rocket. The satellite was monitored 24/7 till the launch, by us security officials, not wanting our tech to be shared.
"Mysteriously" the launch failed and there was some delays getting to the crash site. The chinese were so callous in their regard for their actions, that many of the access panels were loose, fasteners buggered up on the recovered satellite. The tech was so important to them that they crashed their own rocket You never saw that in the news !

We we continue to support these a$$wipes, even when they are doing crap like this, b/c the potential cost of a nuclear armed nutball-run country in the region with zero US influence over it running amok is a LOT worse than our continued support.
Meanwhile, our drones are continuing to overfly their sov. territory and to splat some of the bad actor citizens, along with a few supporters and innocents. Last edited by RWebb; 08-15-2011 at 12:14 PM.. |

China could get away with it and we couldn't. |
