Yo Geary - I'm not sure if he did or not. I know some of the boards with bolts weren't "official" Bolts, if you know what I mean. It was a popular design to add to your board needless to say. I also believe it added a couple extra horses to the propulsion system.

Here's a pic of my friend JL doing his thing.....

Nice Teahupoo Vid Baz, thanks! I loved the moody French-Afro music.

Growing up surfing in mid-70's, Pipeline was the pinnacle of extreme surfing and an untouchable break to us mainlanders. Wow times have changed. Teahupoo knocked Pipe off the map and made it just another inconsistent North Shore local's break.

One thing that amazes me about Teahupoo is how delineated the reef is from the channel. The wave location is so predictable at any size that those spectator boats can sit just a few feet from the pitch. Try that at Pipe, or even my local break on a big day, and those boats would be caught inside by set waves on a regular bases.

Thanks for the Junior Brown. I've seen him live a few times. Always a great show. He always does a surfer medley, along with a killer Hendrix medley.

I've only seen him once, but it was a great and very memorable performance... and it was in a relatively small local venue with 300-400 appreciative fans. I was able to get one of the JB posters off the wall near the end of the night and get him to sign it outside as he was getting on his bus.

Everyone... humor alert... fair warning here; make sure you don't have a mouthful of coffee, beer, etc. in your mouth when you watch this:

I watched this live the other day. Paddling into 30 to 40 foot waves with 30 mile an hour off shore winds.

Favorite to watch Baz, just watch. Even 35 years ago in my surfing prime, I was not prepared for Teahupoo.

Yep a truly spectacular wave and set up there, sure has turned into a zoo tho.

The paddle in lineup reminds me of pipe. Skis jostling for position looks crazy.

But what a wave!

If you watch the video of ten minutes of raw footage you can see some of the boats barely in the channel, have the front driving position. This really puzzled me when I first saw them. Was told that they use them to drive up tp and gig/ harpoon Mahimahi swimming at the surface. They have a Joy stick for quick steering. Wild huh?

Cheers Richard

I just realized that I was referring to an other video ( labeled ten Minuutes of raw footage, can't seem to find it now )that I jumped to after watching that horrendous wipeout ,
Just how bad the wipeout was, was emghisized by the guy in the fore ground waving for a rescue ski right away.
