Very nice, very nice. |
Very nice backyard indeed, 9 thirty. Plus the very definition of early retirement, to still be riding that fishy quad chip of a board, great!
I had a couple of great summers in the 60s guarding at indiatlantic and Sattelite Bch. Area sure has grown up since. Baz. Sure sorry to hear of Mike Tabeling's passing. He was very progressive in the transition era from long to short boards. And one of the most successful of the top guys of the day in leading the change. A cool mellow soul too. Mike did well at the world contest held in Puerto Rico. I've got two guesses of your mystery pic. Swamies in Encinitas, or the Officers club at Ramey in P R. Cheers Richard |
Yes, Rich.....huge loss to the surfing community - Tabeling was a legend. Whenever he came up to surf at NSB the buzz spread very quickly and we all wanted to get in the water to watch and be part of the action. Pretty interesting times when the fish was first popular. Surfing really got super expressive....fast!
As to your 2 guesses.......nope and nope. :) |

That's how the man surfed alright.
I've never seen him in real life but I have seen Cheyne Horan and also P,P,P,P, Pam Burridge (cute beyond what words can describle) at Bondi. |

MR is a legend. Cheyne has surfed here a few times....we're a small town so word gets out quickly when world class surfers are here! https://scontent.xx.fbcdn.net/hphoto...1b&oe=55DA2C51 |
